maybe because Satch's guitar sound is so thin and no one wouldn't realize that he ripped them off :ROTF:

funny as a big fan of Argentina's music I've heard that song before but I couldn't compare it to Satch or Coldplay as I just heard their versions today.

I do believe Milli Vanilli had a similar status. Oh wait... they actually won their award. Of course they did have to give it back. :ROTF:
its relevant because it helps to illustrate the fact that coldplay are a much bigger and (unfortunately) much more widely respected and acclaimed within the music industry of the populist masses

Wham was a cover of a Lonnie Mack tune from I believe 1963.

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

Hocus Pocus is also a cover of a song from the band Focus (1973ish).

Jimmy was influenced somewhat by Lonnie if I recall correctly, or at the very least knew of him so the theft you are hearing was probably there. And since the Nuge undoubdedly knew of Focus and Jan Akkerman there may have been some subliminal riff copping there too.

i could see satriani's side BUT the chances of a shitty band like coldplay having even the remotest clue who he is, and the fact that given the huge amount of artistic diversity within world music could mean that it is possible to write a lick or melody that sounds similar, possibly identical to something else....so i think anyone with sense might not give him any more than a small portion. also given he his in the big scope of things oinly a minor star likely only to be known to guitarheads or a few outsiders, i fail to see how a grammy nominated award winning band of such stature as coldplay is cutting into the profits of a song that only appears on an album and only a few guitar fans are likely to have heard of...

ya know...i have never bothered to point this out...but if you listen to gary's solo in "still got the blues" it is an almost note for note copy of lionel richie's vocal melody in a song called "hello"...shows that lionel dont care and somebody else is looking to make a buck at gary's expense...d.m.

Probably because Satch stands to make a lot more money from Coldplay. You're right though, that was exactly the same as Satch's!

Now Gary's song was released first, how can the court hold that HE's the plagarist? That seems backwards to me.

So Satch is pretty much saying his songs are so ghey that they even work for Coldplay.

    I can't argue with that

What if you take the song and play the chord progressions backwards? would that be legal? Some of the simplest songs can sound bad ass when played backwards
