Huh? Venom came out in the late '70s, there was also Celtic Frost and Mercyful Fate in the early '80s.

Oh, that would be so funny. My preppy little school was all shocked when a *gasp* metalcore band played at a pep rally. They'd probably need therapists if Gorgoroth played.

I still haven't seen that show. They had the whole cast on the Today show not long ago.

Ever seen that "Metal: A Headbanger's Journey" interview with Alice Cooper where he talks about Black Metallers not being at all crazy like they portray themselves to be?

I think G is talking about the Footloose movie with Kevin Bacon that came out in the '80s.

Fucking hell, that's some serious homo-eroticism, makes that film 300 look positively straight. I'm sure they all took the "tradesman's entrance" when they took the left hand path (that's where it leads), after all, God apparently frowns on fudgepacking, they must embrace it.

They just look like a gang of boys who never grew up after getting their first snub from a girl at the tender age of 14. And their music is shit.
So I woke up,rolled over and who was lying next to me? Only Bonnie Langford!

In the 70s, there wasn't quite as much focus on image. Yeah sure there was some. Alice, Kiss, David Bowie and some more were pushing the image envelope. But the difference between this band and those is that, for their time, they were marketable. Personally, I don't think Gorgoroth and their type of (music?) would have been marketable back then. Also there wasn't so much avalable in the music video genre then so I doubt they would have been able to afford all that paint and blood with nobody listening.

I saw Alice back then and, although his act was geared to shock, it also to some point told a story and did just splash gore around just for sight/shock value. And I never saw goat heads and naked bodies hanging from crosses in what videos I did see in the 70s. If that's your thing, that's fine with me. I just doubt it could have been marketed back then.

I have to stop myself sometimes when I hear/see stuff like this because I catch myself sounding like my dad did when he reffered to Alice Cooper and Kiss back then. And it's sooo different.

You nailed it Robert. Even though I watched the video 4 or 5 times I cant remember what the song sounds like. Usually a song will stick in my head but it is the visual of the video that has stuck. For the creep factor I give that MF'er a "10"

Gaahl is ... well, weird to say the least
                            King is a dick
Infernus is a really nice guy (one of my best friends knows him personally and we've been trying to get him over here for a while now, but since the bullshit with King happened, it's a bit hard. probably on the next tour)

                            dont know about the others

but, in general.. black metal guys are a bunch of softies (i know a LOT of them, since i organise gigs with mostly that sort of music) and they're all normal good natured and well mannered people. on the stage they portray that evil/satanic, dont fuck with us or we'll gut you show, but that is part of the image there are a couple of Gaahl and Varg wannabies though.. and they're the ones giving the music a bad name, cos they're a bunch of fucking idiots, taking themselves too seriously.

Oh. I thought you were talking about the Broadway musical play and not the original movie. Either way, you're not missing much. Jenna does better action movies.
