Logically, an 89 Ford Tempo, -vs- a guy menacing w/a modern full size high powered luxury SUV/truck? Not much sense in trying to evade the guy and endangering your family's safety.

In police academy, recruits are HEAVILY trained to exit their cars when a confrontation is imminent. Patrol cars are known as "coffins" when dealing with a high risk vehicle stop. All they EVER trained us was to get the hell out of the car...

No accident so why did he stop and get out of the car? I think that's what the DA would want to know.

The guy accidentally missed him once, then tried to hit him again. Maybe he wanted to try and talk the guy down, which he couldn't do from inside the car. Also, he wouldn't want the guy to run up on him and catch him either inside the car, or worse, halfway out.

From what the guy had already done, he needed to be in a defensive posture that would allow Val time to run for help if worse came to worse.

I'm sure the DA would recognize that as tactics Bill was taught as a police officer. The guy in the Escalade was the aggressor without a doubt.

After 14 yrs as an officer and writing thousands of reports, I'm sure Bill could articulate his reasoning for exiting the vehicle fairly well.

If Bill wants to delete it, that's cool, but he defended himself, period. The guy was 8 inches taller and 100 lbs heavier, sounds like he was fucked up on some kind of stimulant. That's a situation where you have to keep hitting them until they are UNABLE to retaliate. Especially when he was defending Val as well as himself - a nutcase like that could easily have killed them both if Bill had dropped his guard.

Bill has way too much street experience for him to let that happen. Plus this had to be a flashback to the fucker he had to subdue off the plane who broke his neck and forced him to retire. Wacked-out giant attacking you, and this time your wife if he gets past you? Bill had no choice but to do exactly what he did.

I see that Bill did exactly what he had to do to secure his wife Val's safety above all else.

I had two black guys try to rob me for $20 bucks $20 fuckin bucks I told them to fuck off and the big one came at me saying "fucker you're going down" When he got close I stomped down on his left leg just below the knee shattering the knee and whatever you call that lower leg bone he hit the black top in some major pain.
His bad ass homey cuz partner took off running like his ass was on fire.
The police were on the way in the parking lot and caught the homey cuz and he squeeled like a pig and told them just what happend I drove home with a very sore foot.

I'm glad that one turned out good. My friend got robbed at gun point while at a car wash. He was initially going to have a gun fight with the car wash wand and decided against it so he just gave the guy his money. The guy that got robbed at a car wash before him was a school teacher. he wasn't so lucky he got shot and died
