I'm in the Albany, NY area. Lots of trees down, stop lights out at intersections, numbnuts blowing right through them. Too many for the cops to handle. So people are on on their own for traffic, and many just don't give a s**t to be careful, so lots of accidents.

Lots and lots of folks and businesses with power still out, no heat or phones. We got lucky - power went out during the storm Thursday night/Friday AM, but it came back on in the AM.

It's f'n surreal looking, too, I'll tell you that. Like God sprayed the whole world with a one inch layer of ice. Wish I had thought to take some pics this AM - cool and scary, at the same time.

A local news station posted pics sent in my folks all over the area.

Be sure to click on the "full screen" option to get the full effect. That's ice you're looking at folks, not snow.

Hope you guys are ok up there. I own a place in Cobleskill, NY and avoided going up there these past couple of weeks (being in South Korea was a factor too..).

Hope, those of you that need it, will get help fast.

We are ok, we are staying at Dee's parents in Mass. We lost power early Friday Morning and have not had any since. I keep calling my house to see if power is restored. We actually stayed in the house Friday into Sat but decided to move the dogs out and stay with family.

We could see a lot of tree damage and ice damage. So far our house seems to be safe without damage. At this point they are saying there are still 190,000 with no power. That is down from 330,000 yesterday morning. They are saying we may not see power restored until Wed/ Hopefully for the sake of my sanity it is today!

Spike lives a few towns over from me so I'm sure he's affected and obviously you've heard from Brian. Brian lives a few minutes from me so we are in the same boat...

Reminds me of the ice storm back in 98 or 99. And there's another storm coming through right now, at least down here in PA.

              Stay safe everyone!

                We are doing ok.
Still no power, but nobody has frozen a limb off or anything.
What I wouldn't give for a hot shower!!!

I managed to make it into work, and must say that from Weare south to Milford, it looks like a war zone.

                Incredible damage... lines/poles/trees just everywhere.

Thanks for the warm thoughts everyone!

Glad you're doing OK my friend! I figured if anyone could survive this crap, it would be you. I'm assuming the schools are out, so while you're at work, the kidz can split firewood, shovel the walkways, and mom can catch up on the chores that don't require electricity. You know, dusting, scrubing toilets, darning socks, etc, etc, etc.

P.S. For heavens sake, don't tell wifey I said that!

Hey spikey, is your house all electric or do you have gas heating and cooking? Do you have a fireplace?

P.S. If it makes you feel any better, we're experiencing winter precip. Colder than a well digger's ass! Poor Suzy crapped a fudgecicle this morning!

Can use gas stove top, but not oven.
Gas hot water is electric-controlled, as is the gas furnace, so we are shit outta luck there.
Kerosene heater in the basement allows the house to stay around 55 even if it's 9 degrees out like it was the other night.
My walls are 16 inches thick.

                        did you mention poop?

I lived in Buffalo NY during the blizzard of '77, and that was a fiasco. It was pretty cool for me though, I was like 6 years old and sledding out of the upstairs windows !!!

Glad to hear everyone's doing all right, hope the rest of you guys and gals without power get it restored quickly. Only the amish are happy without electricity.

I know for a fact that you're smart enough to make someone warm up the seat prior to your arrival!

Glad to hear everyone's okay. My sister near Albany got her power back on after 3 days and is relieved. She needs to get a car charger for her damn cell phone though! No landline anymore and she wouldn't answer the phone because she had to conserve her battery for emergencies!

I would've told her to go see BOC if I could've reached her by phone!
                              Ron is the MAN!!!!

Hey Rich, did you guys get any snow the other day? That crap went about 100 miles south of us. We're expecting a little winter precip today in the form of sleet.
