Thanks for all the suggestions. This guy is not shipping I tried the UPS store angle. I think his head would explode if I had DHL come by and DHL will not pack it.

I have alot of customers that buy AK parts from me in NC but I feel it would not be apropriate to ask any of them to pick up a amp for me.

Hey I did not make the hillbilly jokes I was asking why Hippietim and ToeJam where making comments. Just asked if it was pig country is all...

Anyone willing to drive for some rare AK parts?

You never know whether those locations are really part of Joe's Truck Stop and how complete their level of service is. You don't want to assume they'll take it and then he gets there and they won't.

Don't ask me why they might not take it, just trust my advice and verify it yourself.
Should be ok.. Hickory is a pretty decent sized town.

What kind of parts are you talking about (Willis)? I'm not willing to drive minimum 8 hours (both ways, total), but the AK is the most produced assault rifle in the world, so I was just kind of wondering about rare parts.

A Romainian "G" parts kit. So pretty much the entire rifle minus the receiver which is a FFL item. I also have bayonets, mags etc... I have alot of rare Russian made AK parts including furniture etc...

I actually have one person the messaged me on another board a hour ago but nothing is certain yet. He was willing to go for a Romy "G" kit.

Google AK part kits to get an idea of what I am talking about.

You know Americans pay stupid money for AK parts here in the US. I have a connection in Germany that sends me parts but he is getting pricey and unreliable.

I am familiar with the customs and ATF forms to get the parts into the US. Sending a complete rifle would land you in prison for a long time but parts are OK as long as they are not barrels or receivers.

If you are intrested in making a boat load of cash IM me.

dude, It's not a wise business

While there are plenty of AKs lying around in the old country houses from the old times and you may find someone who could give you one basically for free in some country faire

but to get AKs without searching like crazy you have to deal with the bad guys... usually with russian mobsters.

At least near my apartment they sold them in front of the local market... you go to the market and talk with the "suspicious" looking characters and say you are looking for an horn... and they'll led you to the suspicious looking car... someone opens the door... you hand some money over to them and you'll receive a case with the gun. You know there were some cases when folks went to buy a trumpet or something but got an AK that way
Anyway that's how it worked a couple of years ago at that place.

The russian mafia minds their own business. But when you start doing a business with guns... and specially with the guns they are getting for you... they want to get involved. And no way in hell I want to be involved with some of the most violent criminals in the world. I wouldn't buy a candy from them.

I was not talking about entire guns which would be highly illegal. I was talking about all the part associated with them like bayonets or buttstocks. There is tons of money in that and its legal.

With trading any arms even if you are procuring stuff for the DOD you have to deal with characters that are shady. Once you get someone legit that is familiar with the laws its a good gravy train especially with surplus stuff that is legal almost everywhere.

Looks like I have someone that will pick it up for me. I would still prefer to have a back up plan or another person if this person falls through.

no Idea about the parts... easier to buy a whole gun and take it to the parts

This is what alot of importers used do in the USA. The ATF cracked down on this practice and said no more in 2005. Alot of people made a ton of cash by doing that.
