I generally respect most cops, but with so many cases coming to light in the last several years that were not only terrible mistakes but gross miscarriages of justice, who can blame anyone for some distrust and fully asserting their rights?

Unfortunately, people don't seem to understand the basic premise of the justice system, which is that it is a cop's job to arrest and charge anyone who they have reasonable suspicion to believe has committed a crime. Then, it is the prosecutor's job to pursue and prosecute the case. Therefore, the cops figure that if the person is innocent, they will walk at trial.

What complicates matters is that the prosecutors are elected officials who must answer to the people in order to get re-elected. This leads to the question being "Can we successfully prosecute this case and win" instead of what it should be, which is "Do we have the right guy and the evidence to prosecute". Prosecutors don't stay in office by making sure they have the right guy - they stay in office by getting convictions.

Until more people fully understand this - and I'm not so sure that even the police officers on here do - we will continue to have an unacceptable number of false convictions and worse, juries and cops will continue to presume that a person must have something to hide simply because they choose to invoke their rights.

Our founding fathers were so damn wise beyond the time that it's uncanny when you look at all of the forethought that went into the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

The system also need to hold the Judges, DAs as well as LEOs accountable for their messups.

Alot of innocent people including cops have been killed in "No knock" warrants gone wrong. Warrants that were issued simply on the word of a informant. Houses that were raided at the wrong address is a very common thing that is happening today.

WEll, I'll be the first to say he is lying about his service. This choad has problems and custody issues with his mother and father residing in both florida and new york. He is a misplaced, fat, disrespectful misfuk that may have enlisted in the service and was quickly shown the door..and I can see why. He is a leech that lives in his seperated parent's basements. They buy him awesome gear that he does NOT know how to use. He's a spoiled, know-it-all, arrogant punk that serves no use or purpose to this forum.
