  • WTF? Youtube is now rejecting all types of music videos.

I never had this problem before but now Youtube is cracking down on music copyrighted videos. I have now heard of them rejecting people playing covers of copyrighted songs.

This really sucks I liked Youtube but this copyright stuff is ridiculous.

If you guys are into Alice in Chains better download my videos before they are all gone. I got some rare interview stuff as well.

Whoever rejected my recent uploads did not even watch the video they just rejected it because it had Soundgarden in the title. The 95 show was meant to be bootlegged that I was uploading. Thats why the broadcast was called Pollution Free Radio. I cant even explain that to Youtube.

I started this channel so fans of Layne Staley can see what he was really like as a person when he was alive. I found it frustrating as a fan that a lot of information regarding his life was suppressed one way or another because of other people's agendas. Layne had been working on a book titled "Self Portrait" as well as a solo album which did not involve Mad Season or Alice in Chains. People assume that he just withdrew and used drugs after 96. He was unable to move forward with his solo album because he "allegedly" lacked support from his label and former bandmates. His contract with Sony "allegedly" did not allow him to move forward with many of his projects. I take it this is what Layne referred to as his "Corporate Prison" I hope you enjoy my Layne Staley channel. -EXPcustom

    Warner Music is suing them

Professional and fan videos using the music company's content begin to disappear from the website.

They supposedly dropped suing people, but are now going after a way to throttle peoples connection that are downloading.

right you are, and that is somewhat troubling, it appears that their attempting to 'deputize' ISP's as a form of web enforcement ?
              Dosn't China do this ?

PS - I'm not defending copyright infringement or any illicit activities, maybe I'm just not seeing their intent. It certainly looks punitive to me.

They just came out and said they were no longer going to sue individuals, but failed to mention that they filed like 100 new suits the week before.

They're not getting anywhere with sueing printers and teenage girls with cancer. Even if they win those cases they're not going to get a dime from these people.

These companies are missing out money making opportunities with huge potential because they refuse to adapt and change their business models to fit the times. Rather than sueing YouTube they should work with google to provide high quality content on the net that people might actually pay to watch.

They are going to far. I mean are we going to have to stop all bootlegging and banning cover bands in the future.

They just need to deal with it. Its like suing someone for having a Pepsi logo in view when you film a video on Youtube. Its getting really stupid.

I read an article about a garage owner that got sued because music he was playing on a radio in the shop could be heard by other people. Publicly broadcasting content intended for private use, or some shit like that.

Its even worse than that. In my area apparently ASCAP and BMI are now going around to even small bars and threatening them if they have cover bands playing there unless the bar pays ASCAP and BMI fees. We have had two shows cancelled because of this because the places we play are too small to afford their fees and now have no gig New Year's eve. And these aren't the only shows that got cancelled! I hope they continue to lose money in sales, hopefully more than they can make up for by hitting up local bars for covers being played. Soon the days of kids taking up musical instruments and forming their first band in the hopes of playing out locally will be gone thanks to these bozos!
The way I see it, the local bands should be paid a royalty for exposing the artists' music to more people who may even go out and buy the record.

Its a crying shame its gone this far, that's insane.
I can't wrap my mind around it and understand the sense in it.
I keep asking myself, what's the point in taking it this far?

I personally do not care how it was built as long as it is a good playing/sounding instrument.

Its pretty simple... Its called corporate greed.

I'm sure somebody is going to chime in and say it is to protect the artist, but I would say that you have to be pretty naive to believe that. Youtube is a great, free marketing tool for bands, which ultimately results in more revenue for them (and the labels). If the labels are worried about money (which I'm sure that is the bottom line), then they are shooting themselves in the foot by removing videos. It doesn't matter who is playing the music... more exposure = more $$$.

I just tried to be slick and title the file homemovies and it was rejected right away for terms of use violation. I wonder who is processing this stuff.

I feel bad for my subscribers as I promised them alot of these rare videos and I cant upload them.
