I gave to the charity of my 5 hungry kids!

I'm not very religious but this thread reminded me of the following Bible verses:

"Be careful not to do your `acts of righteousness' before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you." - Matthew 6:1-4

I donate clothing to less fortunate people every 2 months or so.

Quite true, the same can be said for other acts of charity as well. Unfortunately as a society we glamorize personal gain, and being above others income level ,etc...

And money is not the only way to be charitable, many of us have more time then we do money.
I think that this is one of the best threads, that I've read on this board.

From the book of Luke ;(chapter 11)

33 "No R531 one, after lighting a lamp, puts it away in a cellar nor under a basket, but on the lampstand, so that those who enter may see the light. 34 "The R532 eye is the lamp of your body; when your eye is clear, F279 your whole body also is full of light; but when it is bad, F280 your body also is full of darkness. 35 "Then watch out that the light in you is not darkness. 36 "If therefore your whole body is full of light, with no dark part in it, it will be wholly illumined, as when the lamp illumines you with its rays."

Leadership comes in all forms, there is a difference between being a braggart and stating something amongst peers. Without a lamp to shine, the path is much harder to see.

i gave blood.

before you laugh, we have been hit with snow and a lot of the collection places and mobile ones have not have a good turn out so supplys have taken a hit.

Donated a crap load of toys the week before Xmas to Goodwill.
Dropped some cash @ the Salvation Army
Gave money to a local animal shelter.

It wasn't much all in all, but I gave a little.
