Actually, this list is for 2009 but they were either misused or overused in 2008

Allow me to add some more. These more fit with my age group though.
-Random - People use this for everything. They also use it as an adjective. Ex: "That's so random.". "I'm so random today."
-Beast - People use this as an adjective. "That's so beast".
-Like - This one has been around for ever. People seem to think a sentence isn't complete without using this terrible word. "That's, like, so, like, amazing." or "That's like the funniest thing ever." (So it's not funny? I hate it when people say that.)
I'll add more as I think of them."Dear Dr. Bill,
I work with a woman who is about 5 feet tall and weighs close to 450 pounds and has more facial hair than ZZ Top." - Jack The Riffer
"OK, we can both have Ben..joint custody. I'll have him on the weekends. We could go out in my Cobra and give people the finger..weather permitting of course.." -Bill Z. Bub

The PC backlash iis coming, along with the mullet in 2009.
I never got the whole Boston "wicked cool" thing. I am really glad that seems isolated to Mass. It's really weird to be around those folks. When you take a shower in space, you have to press the water onto your body to clean yourself, and then you gotta vacuum it off. - Ace Frehley

I could go even as far as saying that "You are such a retard" and "That's retarded" when used to insinuate someone or something is stupid irritate me as well.
Why?
I have a gay sister in-law and I spent three years working with Special Education students...
I have to draw the semantic line somewhere...

I agree with the random one though.. and the rest of your example.. anytime somebody around me says "That's so random" I feel compelled to return with "How random is it".
And while we're on the subject, another thing that burns my ass... I hate shoping in a department store when someone comes over the PA system and announces something to the effect of:
"Attention shoppers, umm, we are ummm having a sale in our hartware(mispelling to demonstrate pronunciation) department. ummm so umm come on over and ummm check out the really umm great buys we umm have available".
What the hell is that???? Who gave morons a PA system?? Go the hell back to school and learn to speak like someone with half a friggin brain before you attemp to make a fool out of yourself again..
Sorry.. I lost myself for a moment.... I'm back now..Prosecutors will be violated...

The wall street/main street douchery was bad enough, now they new fuckwads are using "mall street".
Originally posted by Spivonious View PostI definitely agree with Maverick, Staycation, and Main Street/Wall Street. I can't say I've seen anyone append the word monkey to anything though."Yes,..that's when they used to shove a red hot spike in your peehole until you screamed "yes, yes, godammit ..you fuggin' dicks..I'm a witch..I am witch..you cocksuckers"" horns666

Originally posted by Robert Hendrix View PostYeah, I hate that too. I know a few gay people that I respect, and that phrase really doesn't make alot of sense to me.
Pronunciation: \ˈgā\
Function: adjective
Etymology: Middle English, from Anglo-French gai, of Germanic origin; akin to Old High German gāhi quick, sudden
Date: 14th century
1 a: happily excited : merry <in a gay mood> b: keenly alive and exuberant : having or inducing high spirits <a bird's gay spring song>
2 a: bright , lively <gay sunny meadows> b: brilliant in color
3: given to social pleasures ; also : licentious
it was only used for homosexuals in the last few decades so really, if they can take the word and use it to mean something else, there's no reason everyone else can't.In the future though I need to remember to not buy guitars while on Nyquil
