Cool magna, I've always liked them but never had a chance to try one out.

Thanks. I love my Maggie, and it's SCARY fast with the V4 motor and light chassis, but I want to get something I can stretch out on a bit for longer trips. The Magna is great for around town and recreational use, but I wanna do some road trips and it gets a little cramped on there after a couple hundred miles. I don't really care about the speed anymore, I'm getting older, I want comfort.

I used to love bikes and often entertained the thought of buying one and learning to ride... then I was down in the Outerbanks, NC during Bike Week, and became completely anti-bike - I've had it with those obnovious loud pipes that sound like a semi engine braking down a hill!!!

Damn you kids!!! Get off my lawn!!!

Thanks Mark. I went from a 2001 Kawasaki 250R that I put 6K on, to a 1988 tricked out Sportster that I put 8K on to the Valkyrie. I have put about 5K on it so far.
My wife loves it because its REALLY comfortable. Hopefully I won't have to sell it this year. Damn economy is really messing up the company I work for.

I'm looking to buy my first bike. Getting ready for my class to get my license. What do you guys recommend for a first bike with out looking like a newbie. Something I can ride for a few years.

Are you looking for a sport bike or a cruiser? Metric or USA?

V-Star (Yamaha) would be my suggestion... nice bikes, and enough size/power options to make you comfortable, all of which look sharp.

I'd second that. My dragstar is my first real bike, they were marketed as the v-star in the US. Looks and sounds good, low maintenance and enough power but not too much power that will get a noob into trouble. You might want to learn on something small (250?) then work up.
I feel festive all year round. Deal with it.

I don't have any electronic pics of my race bikes from back in the day, but I finally picked up this Italian beauty last spring after an 11 year hiatus from riding.

I agree. Look at Yamaha V-Star and the Honda VTX.
Lots of bang for the buck. The Yamaha V-Star Classic 650 is an excellent first bike. Also.. the HD Sportster 1200 is another great first bike.
The nice thing about the Yamaha and the Honda is you get alot more for your money in comparison to the HD.
