Porsche designed 1130cc engine with 9000 rpm redline, dyno'd with 110hp at the rear wheel, 240mm rear tire, Supertrapp V5 pipe, Power Commander III. Doesn't do me much good when it's 15 degrees outside with 8" of snow on the ground though.

My Valkyrie has around 100hp at the rear wheel. Its a 1560cc Flat 6 with 6 carbs.

Biker question: If you decided to join a MC, would they frown on that sort of new technology versus old school machines?

http://www.timskelton.com/valkyrie/tech/fastest.htm Yes the vrod is faster, ive seen better times than 11.9 for them. Being liquid cooled and designed by porsche, the vrod sometimes doesnt get the "respect" from the RUBs as being a "true" harley. I think its the coolest harley out there myself.

It would depend on the club, but generally they are OK with US made bikes and the less hardcore clubs could care less if you have a Metric. Even the Angels are loosening up - I was at a run last year and Sonny Barger pulled in on a new Victory. The most notorious Angel ever on a bike thats NOT a Harley.

Personally, I like the V-Rod but find a more traditional cruiser to be more comfortable - especially for the longer runs. I loved my V45 Magna, but longer rides were torture. I can easily ride 300 - 400 miles on my Low Rider without getting saddle sore. I'm not into the speed anymore as much as just enjoying the ride.

In my experience, most outlaw (1%'er) clubs require an American made motorcycle, though some would probably allow British bikes also.

LE clubs for the most part pretty much allow any brand.

Non outlaw motorcycle riding clubs usually allow any brand.

Join Zakk's gang, you don't even need to know what a motorbike looks like.
So I woke up,rolled over and who was lying next to me? Only Bonnie Langford!

                        I nearly broke her back

Most Harley guys just look at it funny because they don't understand it and alot of sport bike guys don't take it seriously because it says Harley on it. I feel so alone!

It's great for around town and short rides but anything else is pretty uncomfortable.

So, I'll stick with the AT, no sense in getting rid just for the sake of it, it did me proud again last September, never missed a beat all the way through France, Italy, Greece, round Crete and back home again over the Swiss Alps

I've got the seed of an idea to go to Mongolia on it to see the Total Eclipse, along the Silk Road etc later this year,so will be ripping it apart and making sure everything is tickety-boo and/or uprated to "Serious Riding" spec. Sizing some Touratech panniers up right now.......
Let me know if you're coming through this way.
I feel festive all year round. Deal with it.

Generally, Harley's stick with Harley's and metrics stick with metrics. There are basically a few groups of riders. Regardless of what some people will tell you.. this is realistically how it shakes out...

Group 1 Harley Riders. They will allow other USA made bikes in their groups such as Victory's or custom bikes
Group 2 Metric Cruisers. These are the V-Stars, the VTX, the V-Max, the Suzuki M109's, etc...
Group 3 Sport Bikes aka...crotch rockets. Everything from Kawasaki to Suzuki to Ducati. This group tends to be a much younger and crazier crowd.
Group 4 Hardcore tourers... Wings, Interstates, BMW's, Connie's. The funny thing about this crowd is that you will rarely see a Harley touring bike in the mix. Harley's stick with Harley's.
If your friends ride HD's you should consider getting one if you want to ride with your friends and not catch too much crap.
