Regardless of lid, I ALWAYS wear gloves, even if moving bike from front of house into garage. If I start it up to shift it, the gloves go on. My Dad drummed into me when I was 17 and on first bike that even in the slowest spills the first thing I would do is put my hands out to save myself........and that picking gravel out of my hands would put a serious damper on my guitar playing.

This past summer, I was driving home from the office and the thermometer on my rearview mirror registered 103 degrees and I was running about 80 mph. When I exited the interstate, there was a traffic light and next to me was a guy on a Harley in full leathers. I looked at my thermometer and it registered 107. You could see the heat waves coming off his engine and I thought to myself "man, I wish I was that fucking cool!"
