ugh !!! Need help with picture resizing please,

I've been trying unsucessfully to add to the new gallery, I've downloaded Irfanview and tried cutting picture size (down to 2 mega pixels). However I'm still getting this happy error message :

Sorry, Jayster: Bad File - No File or File is too Large or of the Wrong MIME Type

    Any thoughts ?

Here's a tutorial that covers resizing in Irfanview:

A good rule of thumb is that for anything that you're sharing on a webpage, you don't need a resolution of more than 72 dpi. That usually will get the file size down under 500k as long as you keep the overall image size reasonable to fit on the page, say under 800 or so in either dimension. I'm no expert, but that works for me most of the time.

open the pic with irfanview, click on image tab, click on resize/resample, where it says set new size if you type in a value in the width, the height will adjust itself or you can use the right side where it says "some standard dimensions"

then click OK and the pic will resize. Now click on the file tab when it drops down choose save or save as when it shows you the name of the file and where it will be saved make sure you save it as a jpg/jpeg format, click save and you are done. 1024x768 is a god starting point 800x600 is a good viewing size for the internet.

No Item or Item is Now in Moderation Queue - Check Back Later ? thats what it always says. one of the mods will have to approve it, then you will see it

I always just use MS Paint to resize pictures.

I use Picasa & highly recommend it. Once you select the picture you want to resize, go to the file menu and select "Export Picture to Folder". In the menu that pops up there's a slider to adjust the size of the exported picture.
