I think Yellowstone is going to erupt and wipeout middle America. Dust clouds will encircle the planet. Life as we know it will cease to exist. Therefore, in preparartion for this event, I have decided not to pay my federal or state taxes for 2008.

P.S. I also believe California is going to break away and fall into the Pacific. Sorry Ron, Tommie, Bob & Russ.

The USGS counts everything as an earthquake. Minor trembles act as pressure relief, just as big ones do, but small ones are not always indicative of a big one coming. It depends on the density of the contact points. Shale is not a very strong rock, so it breaks easily. As long as it doesn't get into a more dense section like granite, there's no problem.

When you have 252 worthwhile and noticeable earthquakes in a week (read: earthquakes that cause visible surface damage and disrupt migratory patterns), then there's a problem.

This loon's just trying to claim bragging rights in the event it does happen. He can then get his 15 minutes by going on CNN saying "yeah I been sayin this for years but would they listen to me? Nooooooo"

          Sorry for your misfortune
, but this is very interesting!
          How close were you?
Aside from ash, was there any other debris?
How about the ambient air temp?
          and .....
Has this (yellowstone activity)been a big thing over in WA?
Enjoying a rum and coke, just didn't have any coke...

i was about 90 miles north when it blew. fortunate most of the ash went east, but that messed up I-90 which is a main connection anything coming in from the east coast. nothing i remember about the air temp, just a lost of haze almost. cars even up in my area got a dusting af ash. I-5 south was a mess and i think portland too more of a hit even though Seattle is closer. Yellostone is not really any news.... Mt. Rainer is more of a concern than anything which is very close...
