In Pete's video if I recall correctly and may be wrong, had no females in it, so you got the hint.
The Stones video of waiting on a friend was filmed what they called back then in an all guy gay bar, no ladies in that video. You pieced it together you didn't need somebody to publicly come out and announce their sexual orientation. It was obvious if you paid attention.

*Edit - According to Wikki (and when is that ever wrong...sarcasm) he had a same sex fling in the 60's but was never actually gay. maybe that's what was announced in the early 90's the he had done the gay thing for a twist.. who knows..

You need to read up on that song and video. He was taking the piss. It was intended as a jab at the English punks who apparently were dressing like Americans gays at the time, or something like that.

I don't know what pool halls in the US are like, but any snooker club I've ever been in has been exclusively male. I didn't automatically assume everyone there was a homo.
