I think it means that he hasn't had the time for any pets as he has been on the road all his life. I don't know what is in Massachusetts for him but something damn sure is.
I saw a picture of his house and it isn't near as plush as Toby Kieths or Garth Brooks.

I dig this guy- he sure as heck knows what he's doing and there's fewer guys carrying the torch for this style of music nowadays. He's a smart son of a gun and he'll do really well in the New England area, there has always been a real strong folk and blues scene around there. Yeah, Watermelon Slim- a workin' man full of inspiration.

I believe the minimum for Mensa is 132 - which is the 95th percentile.
