  • The Universe is a Hologram?

Could our three dimensions be the ultimate cosmic illusion? A German detector is picking up a hint that we are all mere projections
"We were sitting on the bus one day and there were 5 of us hanging out. There was only one beer left in the cooler and we actually all took a little cup and split it. It was a pathetic day in a rock and roll when five grown men have to be sitting there sharing a beer. "

I won't pretend to understand the entire article, but his assertions are ummm.... fucked up.
Holograms as we know them today, are nothing more than light projections with no physical presence.
So I'm no sold on this particular theory.

Nono, I asked the Man on the Moon, and he said that was a myth. I just don't know who to trust anymore
In the future though I need to remember to not buy guitars while on Nyquil

That reminds me of the Will Ferrel skit of Harry Carey, where talks about the moon being made of spare ribs. Very funny.

Uh oh, the author found a stash of crack somewhere.

You should all read the article. If you don't understand it, don't knock it, that shows ignorance and is not a good trait, which I'm sure none of you actually posess.

The implications of this, if it is one day verified, are mind boggling, and though I can follow this article upto the point where it states the Hologram principle, the thoughts about the possible ramifications (both physical AND philosophical) far outreach my mental capabilities.

This article requires at least a crash course in quantum physics...I'm no expert, but it doesn't seem totally pulled out of ass...Interesting.

“What the bleep do we know” is a good introduction to quantum physics…

Hey there bud, I don't think any one comment or post made thus far, would be indicative of ones character or trait flaws.

I've always said, (not here but among co-workers, friends, family and etc) this universe is so intricate and vast and we will never capture a real definitive understanding of it in all of it complexities, we just don't have the capability.

With that said, what we have learned is in part due to the advancement and beauty of technology that's given us those possibilities and capabilities. We will continue to discover and learn from those discoveries as the technology and funding is provided. We have the brilliant minds just need to give them the tools to do their jobs effectively.

But yeah, I think to laugh and try keep ones life connecting as much as possible with some laughter and try be light hearted is very good medicine for all.
Neither do I think if one makes a joke (regardless how serious anyone else may or may not be) about the universe being viewed as a hologram is reflective of one possibly possessing the idiot gene.

Very interesting indeed. It is good to know this is being studied.

I DID read the entire article. I WAS with him up until the hologram idea...then it became assinine.

does it really make a difference?

would you be happier knowing you were refracted light and that everything you experience on a daily basis was a result of some bizarre consciousness that COULD be a part of the way some 2D image has refracted across the "universal" spectrum?

i am not sure WHY people WANT to know these sorts of things. i mean, i sure don't. life is hard enough for a lot of people without the need to dwell on the fact that they are, indeed, refracted light from a 2D surface.

what next? a way to figure out how to find the flat source that we TRULY exist upon? hahahahaha....

or it is "ughhhh"? some people have too much time on their hands. imagine this:

some people believing we live in a "matrix" type world, where we are all fake consciousness created by a giant computer program (or whatever) fighting a global war against people that believe we are REALLY refracted light from a flat surface light years away, "where the image begins to grain"?

                              fucking insanity!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                              hahahahahahaha.....or is it "hmmmmmmm"?

                              YOU decide......
                              GEAR:

some guitars...WITH STRINGS!!!! most of them have those sticks like on guitar hero....AWESOME!!!!

some amps...they have some glowing bottle like things in them...i think my amps do that modelling thing....COOL, huh?!?!?!

                              and finally....

i have those little plastic "chips" used to hit the strings...WHOA!!!!
