It changes for me as far as who is at the top at any given time, but here's a short list of faves. I won't call them influences, since I don't want to insult any of them.

Alex Skolnick (If I had to pick 1 favorite at the moment)
    Schenker
    Uli
    RR
    EVH
    Jake
    Marty
    Becker
    MacAlpine
    Gilbert
    Vai
    Jeff Beck
    Gary Moore
    SRV
    Buddy Guy
    Steve Howe
    Greg Howe
    Sykes
    Gilmour

        My absolute favorites are:
        - Paul Gilbert
        - Brian May
        - Ynwgie

Beyond that, I like a whole lot of guitar players but those are top 3 that inspire me and influence me.

it is pretty simple for me.

                uli roth
                malmsteen
                blackmore

                jim matheos

                wes montgomery
                george benson

                dweezil zappa

                dave murray
                adrian smith

                michael schenker

i guess that's it. all of those players had a huge influence in the creation of MY style and sound. i can't play like any of them but you can hear them in my playing - if that makes sense.
                GEAR:

some guitars...WITH STRINGS!!!! most of them have those sticks like on guitar hero....AWESOME!!!!

some amps...they have some glowing bottle like things in them...i think my amps do that modelling thing....COOL, huh?!?!?!

                and finally....

i have those little plastic "chips" used to hit the strings...WHOA!!!!

Doug Aldrich (although I was disappointed with the Whitesnake record, I much prefer Burning Rain/Bad Moon Rising/Lion).

Dave Scott (Tuff Luck) This guy should have been a fuckin' star.

Johnny Ohlin (Nation) missed that one Bill

                  Pretty much everyone Bill mentioned!

Prince - Unappreciated as a guitarist IMO. I also like how his sound tends to have a bit of variety in it as you move along the timeline of his records.

Glenn Tipton - What can be said? The mastermind behind my favorite Priest songs, and he is STILL deliverin' the goods today.

EVH - C'mon, it's Eddie Friggin' Van Halen

Amir Derakh - Fantastic playing in Rough Cutt, and a very unique sound/variety in Julien-k. He also puts on a good show, hitting the notes nicely in a show when I saw him with Julien-k.

His name is "Eldo" aka Robert Ellis, the greatest guitar player to ever grace the planet.
Not helping the situation since 1965!

My absolute favorites, in somewhat chronological order:

                          Randy
                          Vivian Campbell (the Dio years)
                          George Lynch
                          Tipton/Downing
                          Dimartini/Crosby
                          Hammett/Hetfield
                          Murray/A Smith
                          Degarmo/Wilton
                          Brad Paisley

I really dig others like EVH, Vai, Dime, Jake, Gilbert, Cantrell, Slash, Vito B, S Stevens, Friedman, Yngwie, etc. but the ones above were more influential on me and my playing style as I began playing in 1983 or so and to date.

I always wondered when this question would come up. There sholdbe another for top five albums (and no more than five). Even though I can't play all off, here are some:

                              Tony Iommi - absolute #1
                              Randy
                              Hetfiled/Hammet
                              Angus
                              Yngwie
                              Tipton/Downing
Yesterday is history; tomorrow is a mystery; but today is a gift; that's why it is called the present.
