Poor kitty. Here's to a speedy recovery. She's cute.

Hope she makes a quick & full recovery! We've paid a lot to vets over the years, but the idea of putting a pet down over money is just horrible to think about. Insurance makes a lot of sense, so that type of choice can be avoided.

Aww I hope that cat gets better real quick, she's so cute! I used to have 2 pedigree Bengals, one of which got shot by some a**hole with an air pistol. She survived but (thanks to pet insurance) a £300 vet bill saved her. They live with my ex now, and are still doing well, though she hates them going out in case it happens again. Vets seem to make up random figures when it comes to bills. I've known people be charged anything from £20 to £100 for putting a cat down, so it certainly pays to have that insurance, though I like that credit card idea too where you get a year to pay off the ballance interest free.

Is there any other kind of vet? Is there an NHS for animals I'm not aware of? It would have saved me some cash on a load of crap that never worked over the years.

Thanks all. She's sitting here with me as I type, purring her little heart out .

I'm not aware of any NHS vet, though I guessed there might be, prolly the RSPCA?

The UK pet equivalent of the HNS is the PDSA. They neuter and stuff for reduced rates, though I'm not sure if there's a limit on the operations they will carry out. (PDSA= Peoples Dispensary for Sick Animals). The RSPCA will rescue animals but rarely operate for reduced rates on animals that have owners.

Open a savings account and put $5/10/20 whatever, a paycheck towards pet care.

Well you could've bought a new cat instead of paying that bill. Actually you could buy multiple cats with that amount.

Once ,my friend's cat had jumped out of the 4th floor. The vet costed them about a thousand dollars. And the best part is, the cat died. And they couldn't tell his father how much the bill was, so they "reported" the half of the actual amount.

Don't get pets. You get too attached.
                    I wish my hair-color was EDS :/

                        You can't replace a pet's character.

I used to own a male cat Witty who slept on my shoulders/neck. He also used to beat up dogs. Poor bastard got knocked over or was kicked by some POS from the local pub. Took him a while to die. That was horrible.
