Within 2 weeks...not to play secret squirrel, but that's really all I can say. Sorry.

    I'm heading to Afghanistan.

Oh, they're doing very welll considering. My dad is former Army himself (he served in the 75th Ranger Regiment in the late 80's to early 90's) and my mom understands why I volunteered.

Thank you for the best wishes. I'll be keeping you guys posted.

DRM, stay safe, keep your head down and aim true. I want to see you around here for a long time to come.
You know what's scary? We were at the range zeroing for 300m and I had 5 misfires in a row. FIVE!!! Not 5 rounds out of 30 misfired, but the first 5 rounds I attempted to fire misfired!!! My firing pin is FUCKED on my M4 and the arms room aren't ordering me a new one...so...under the table I might be picking up an HK bolt assembly...

(how's that for bullshit? They won't even give me a fully operational weapon!)

And thank you. I'll make sure to do my job and bring myself and my buddies home.

And just how the fuck do they expect you to get stones out of horses' hooves? Knives aren't just used for disembowelling rag-heads and collecting ears for necklaces. Apparently.

What a shit that you have to buy decent kit yourself. Me, I'd get my family to buy me a fucking tank.
Actually, the thought of you all buying your own stuff brings an image to mind. Imagine a Far Side type of cartoon, a load of soldiers on patrol sneaking about. From the back of the line, a skinny arm is in the air :
"Sergeant! Sergeant! Watkins has got my water bottle holder and he won't give it back! Tell him Sergeant!"

Stay on the side of the bullets away from the pointy end and get home safely. Oh, and if you bump into some farmer, Terry I think he is called, ask him where the fuck my Opium delivery has got to.
So I woke up,rolled over and who was lying next to me? Only Bonnie Langford!

                I nearly broke her back

You just purchased the best 5.56mm rifle on the planet. MUCHO CONGRATS!!!

What are you planning for the optic?

*EDIT: You're screwed now...from this point forward, it's going to be difficult to impress you with a rifle.

Very nice Sig man!!! I was bummed that the city didn't allow me to buy my service S&W 459 9mm because I didn't put in 25+ years..what a stupid rule.

I was bummin', so my dad picked me up a Baretta 92FS Centurion 9mm w/ tritium sites and hogue grips with a couple mags. It's smaller than my ol' Smith. I had to get used to the smaller grip..but a nice gun. Anyone else have experince with these..what do you think? I could field strip the Smith in my sleep, and clear any malfunctions..stove pipes, double feeds, even a squib ext. "Tap, Rack and Go"..The Baretta is a different animal, and I don't feel as confident with it. So I gotta put the time in for that.

                      Donnie Swanstrom 01/25/06..miss ya!

It was weird man, we were just talking about em, and here I'm out killing time, walk into a mom/pop shack and bam! It's just sitting there on the wall, what are the chances of that? I seem to fall into this kinda shit once in a while. Maybe it's time to hit some pawn shops around town and find the pre-pro for $400 :ROTF: Unless Adrian's already down on Broadway?

Optics? errr, good question, now I need 5, so we'll take it easy for now. I do have a buddy that owns a tackle shop, had lunch with him today, and apparently, I can get shit at cost, I just need to get a list of manufacturers and see what's available via that ave.

Thanx again for the heads up!!! Much appreciated! I do like my Smith's but I can see a noticable difference with these. I'll post some pics/review, etc once I get em dialed in!

Bill, what Smith(s) did you have? I had a 5904 back in the day and "had" to sell it 15+yrs ago, long (personal) story, but one day I'll share.

                            Horns,

The Beretta M9 is my service pistol. In my experience, it's a good gun. It might just be the military model, but it does NOT like cheap ammo. Also, make sure you properly lubricate it...it won't fire dry.

It's a beautiful weapon and is a blast to own. Lightweight, fairly reliable, and parts are available almost anywhere. Congrats!

And for what it's worth, I've engaged targets at 100m with an M9. So it can take the long shots if you can.

My brother just went thru the police academy, and his instructor (SWAT team member) said the only thing the Baretta's good for is a paper weight.

First paper weight in the history of man where you had to wait 24hrs to pick it up... :ROTF:

My cuz (STLPD) said basically the same thing a few years back and he had no recourse, I think he carries a Glock now tho, could be mistaken, but I thought that's what I saw last time I saw him.
