  • Anyone know anything about Itunes?

Ok, so my main music computer completely crashed. I had over 7100 songs from most of my cd collection uploaded to it. Luckily I had them all in Itunes also. So I needed to take my Ipod and upload all the files to my new computer, which I did (after 3 hours of trying to figure it out).

Problem is that now, although Itunes plays all the files (or at least theones I've listened to since the upload), I can't find the files. I've tried the search feature on my computer, I've tried My Computer->Program Files->My Music->My Ipod.. etc... and I simply cannot find them.

I wanted to give a friend of mine a cd via USB transfer.. as I have done in the past, but now since I can't find the files, I can't do this.... anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks.

(Edit), I found the files, but during the transfer, they have been reformatted with names like AAEZ, or AAJU, or AAMR, etc.... If I play AAEZ, Pink Floyd Shine on you Crazy Diamond plays, and AAJU is Opeth - Deliverance..... any idea how to reformat them to have the correct names?

    My Music isn't in program files. It's in C:\Documents and Settings\(User Name)\My Documents\My Music\

I'd just do a search for a song by name, like: Unchained.*

See where it finds it, and that's where your songs are.

I think that is the same path as mine, but couldn't remember, the path I put was more of an example... anyway, I did try song name search, but that doesnt work. Friggin Itunes.....

Off the top of my head(i,m on a mac just now),try c:/program files/itunes/music or similar.
I,m sure by default Itunes creates a new Itunes music folder and puts all your songs in it.It should either be in the My documents folder or the program files/itunes folder.

Do an andvanced search for all files over 4 meg (or 4000K, as I think is how you specify in the search).

That should find the little bastards.

Yep, that should be it if you got them off of your iPod. How did you get them off of your iPod? if it was a program it might be in a file relating to that program.

It was actually quite complicated (for me anyway)... I had to hook up the ipod, making sure it was in manual mode... then find the drive... then do an advance search to find the hidden files... then save the hidden files to a folder on my desktop, which converted them into the weird format I mentioned above, then take them from the desktop folder and put them into the itunes on this computer. After trying lots of different things and coming up empty, I finally found a video on you tube by this 13 year old who explained how to do it. Go figure, lol.

I guess if I had actually bought the tunes from itunes, it wouldn't have been such a pain in the butt, however since I uploaded them from cd's, it must throw a wrench in the whole system or something.
