The seller offered shipping initially and didn't have any mention of local pickup. I was surprised to find one for sale were someone would ship it. Seems to only be dealers that will ship them due to them being so heavy.

I think the seller and I have worked out a deal where he is going refund me a little cash and I won't send it in for claims. Think this will work out for both of us. The damage isn't bad enough that I can't live with it.

See, this is one thing I've never understood or agreed with - if there's a problem, you either can or cannot live with it. If you can, then there's no "partial refund", particularly anything resembling a bribe to keep the buyer from filing a dispute/claim.
If there's any money going back, it'd be 100% after the item was shipped back to me.

Granted you paid for it one way but received it another, however, if you "can live with it", then for all intents and purposes, the damage didn't happen.
