  • Thirteen minutes until gametime.

Spivonious, gotta give credit where it's due, Scottie Upshall is a solid winger. Apples to apples, I'd take Umberger's 46 points over Upshall's 34 any day of the week. To me he's more of a "threat", especially when parked in front of the net.

It's soooo much sweeter against the Flyers!

      • Jesus christ... let me say that it was Knuble's and Giroux's fault they got in that spot, no doubt. And that goal Pittsburgh scored to tie it up was lucky, and Biron had no shot. But Marty Biron is going to play the Flyers out of the game. Carter had to take that penalty that lead to goal 2, and I could have scored on that gapped he elft for the game winner. If they start him in Game 3, John Stevens is an idiot. Luck kept him afloat that far, and it ran out. Ashame as the team played a fantastic game and it was a thriller to watch, but Biron killed them. Again.

        • I though Biron was the equalizer that kept the Flyers in the game. Nothing he could do on the five on three.

I'll give Fleury the credit for the desperation save against Carter. If the Flyers scored there it was over. I though both goalies played a solid game.

I've followed the Pens long enough to be pleasantly surprised that the Pens have become a physical team. The used to only have speed and skill, now they have some grit to go with it. Been nice to watch the Pens play a season where they out hit opponents. Never really thought I'd see a game where the Pens out hit the Flyers.

I think the Pens only hit though when they have an edge. They get on their heels real quick when you have a lead. It's one thing to play tough tied or in the lead. I just have not been impressed with Biron since last year's Pens/Flyer's series. They needed him to keep standing on his head and he didn't. He's kept the seat warm for Nitty, which was his purpose all along anyway. Biron got lucky, and Jeff Carter should be given a save on that one :ROTF:

Edit: For the Pens, they also hit the net, as for the Flyers.... "100% of shots that don't hit the net, don't go in"

            • Dude, they out hit your Flyers tonight 50 to 29 while playing from behind most of the game. Did you ever really think you would have ever seen the Pens do that? Biron made 46 saves, not much more you can ask of him there.

I was impressed with the Flyers discipline for most of the game. Of course nothing warmed me heart more than to see Knuble take a stupid penalty in the offensive zone while Gill was in the sin bin.

                • Yup, we just need to keep it going on the road. I like the stat that 97% of the teams that win the first two games advance to the next round. Lou was a monster for sure but the D limited second chances, and the offence managed to convert some chances.

I think this series will be a goaltender battle all the way through. Mason is definitely keeping his team in it, but the Canucks are just generating too many quality scoring chances.

I think Rypien will be dancing with someone in the first 5 minutes in game 3. Both teams have a lot of hostility to dump I think. St. Louis is going to be a force for a few seasons here and Davidson is doing a great job at GM but I just think they are a little too green this year. Add a couple veterans through free agency after the season and keep the young core and they will take that next step.

                  • I thought Biron played great. What a save on carter. It looked to me like the flyers were a little gassed once overtime started.
The canucks are certainly tight on D. and tough at home. They could present some real problems for other teams. Not over yet though.

                    • I was pingponging between the flyers and devils games.
Hurricanes turned that game around. They're gonna beat the Devils.
                      My guess there.

                      • Billy G to the rescue. Dude has to be loving life right now, going from the Islanders in the basement, to Pittsburgh playing with some great young talent in the league , making the playoffs and stepping up his game when the real men come out to play.. Billy and and 287'th Staal kid to play in the league came to play in that series

No, but one of the announcers for CBC, I forget which, I think possibly Scott Oak cannot say Sedin at all. He spent to long in the TO I think. Calls them Daniel and Henrik Sundin every time.

                            • Biron had a fantastic game, I thought. The game winner was a bit soft, but he didn't have much of chance in 5 on 3 with Pens.

When the Flyers were on last night, they were really good. When they were off, they played horribly. I have to wonder what they would look like if Upschall were here instead of suspended Carcillo.

It'll be interesting to see how we play tomorrow. It's definitely a must-dominate game.
