    • this series is already great to watch. pens better stay out of the box
we'll see just how good varlamov really is now that he is facing a team
that can score, actually control a puck, set up a power play, etc. etc. etc. -lol

      • Crosby just got robbed by an absolutely sick highlight reel stick save by Varlamov. 2-2 after 2.

I'm fine with the hit on Huds, it wasn't late and he caught him with a good shoulder to the head. The only issue was lack of respect as he could have stilled creamed his ass without exploding the shoulder to the head. A lot of people are crying for a suspension but I say he served it..move on to game two. However, the league has been crackin down on shots to the head so I dunno what will happen. Its a contact sport and they dont need to be changing the NHL to stand for Nancyboy Hockey League Huds is a tough little cookie, if he was an average size NHL player and it was shoulder to shoulder the play would have continued on without a whistle imho..
I agree, good to see he wasnt (really) hurt. I thought the hit was clean, and definitely not an "intent to injure" 5 minute major. My biggest issue is the one you brought up about turning into the "nancyboy league- if they start handing out suspensions for borderline hits, its gonna take all the physical play out of the game. Jesus, scott stevens wouldve spent half his career suspended if they used the same criteria.

              WTF is rafalskis problem?
Its a complete catastrophe. But Im a professional, I can rise above it. LOL

              • They are saying Rafalski has an "upper body" injury so in playoff injury disclosure its probably a strained groin

I do think there is a double standard in the league..Brashear gets 5 for his hit to the head because the player got a broken orbital bone (and previous infractions). I'm willing to bet that if Brown would have hit Crosby, Ovechkin or Malkin and they were laying in a pool of blood he would have been suspended But since its a little unknown Hudler (who can take it like a man) its hockey as usual.....rule # 1...hold your head up!

                • Well, I didn't get to see the Pens/Caps game because I was at work. All I really needed to see was the score. Pens better bring it in game two!

It could have gone either way...each team showed streaks of dominance. The save that I mentioned earlier was really the game changer and took the wind out of the Pens sails. Fleury gave up a weak goal but made some nice saves...he didn't have a chance on the other two scores.

                    • 'The Kids are Alright" impressive win by the young Hawks.
They can score goals, humongous win over the canucks.

Varlamov gave up a soft goal, his first, but made up for it later on what you mentioned rupe, that just hit his stick perfectly , 9 out of 10 would have crossed the line.

                      • Luongo is human 8 goals in 2 games. The Hawks have to be feeling pretty good with a split on the road heading back to Chicago with the home ice advantage. Was worried after those two long bombs on Khabbibulin, played well after that.

                        • Losing Salo early hurt the Canucks. He's such a stabilizing influence on D. If only he weren't made of glass...

The other guys never seemed to find a rythym in the 5 man rotation. Hopefully he's good to go for game 3. It will set the tone for the series I think. Lou seemed to let them get in his head a bit too with some contact. I think he'll come out pretty focused in the next one, I just hope the Canucks can muster some hustle. The PP was dangerous tonight at least. (Barring the shorthanded goal against.)

                          • watching the Red wings is pure enjoyment. They are the measuring stick of the NHL.
Going into double OT in a few min., I'm scared to put out my cigarette at times hoping i don't miss something. Detroit needs to win this game, they are swarming but Hiller is the Ducks savior so far. Almost 50 shots on goal-lol

                            • Datsyuk almost pulled it off in the last 2nds of the 2nd OT. Number 3 on the way.
