I gotta disagree with you. I'm sure some of the die-hard EVH fans can tell you that he's rarely seen without those shoes. And I think his relevance has spiked since the reunion tour.

Chuck Taylors used to be under $20, but now their $40+ these days. So it's worth the X-tra $20 for the VH bling for hardcore fans IMO..

You rarely find a cool Rock T-shirt for that price. Nah, Ed could have whored the hell out. Considering who he is, he's fairly reserved. He dabbles in endorsing gear but some nice stuff came from that.

I'm surprised Ozzy (I mean Sharon) is not doing the whole Gene Simmons thing. He sold out long ago. Why not plaster his pic on lunchboxes, bowling balls and a box of Wheaties?

As much as I like his stripped guitars, I never could bring myself to buy one because frankly, I can't even begin to play a fraction as well as Eddie. But you know what, I'll buy the shoes because I'd be willing to bet I can out walk and out run that little sucker!

I would imagine that putting your name on a pair of shoes is probably an easier way to make money than making new music that is relevant, keeping a band together, or working to regain your status as a guitar hero. I'd say Ed's a pretty smart guy. Why put in any effort when you can make money easily by whoring out your name?
