There are some parents out there that need to be permanently removed from society.

Most parents are complete wimps when it comes to disciplining their own children.
I've see a few parents who were actually afraid of their own kid.

markD, I completely understand what you are saying. The schools my kids attend are going through exactly what you are describing.

We live in NC where there is a ceiling on the number of kids per school that can be on assistance - so they bus kids from our area to the poor neighborhoods and bus kids from the poor neighborhoods here. Sad to say but we all know what that means - there are a lot of poor black and hispanic kids being dropped off every day in an afluent white/asian school.

The way the busing selection process seems to be is that they send their problem kids our way. These kids show utter disregard for authority, pick on smaller kids, steal things, etc. Basically they are living up to every racial stereotype they can.

Combine the busing with "No Child Left Behind" (or more succinctly put "Every Child Dragged Along") and the schools are an absolute disaster. The teachers are paralyzed. The school administration is pitiful and cowardly. Everyone is so afraid to take any action against one of these kids that's bused in. So basically my kids are being taught that it's ok to tell a teacher to fuck off, slack off in school and you get promoted anyhow, and that if you act up you can dominate a situation.

I wish I had a conclusion to this story but I think the next 7 years are going to be rough while I get my two boys through high school.

I've heard that "No Child Left Behind" has destroyed private schools and some of the more prestigious public schools. Something about the schools being sent kids from poor areas who don't care about school and they don't attend and fail classes, thus bringing down the overall average for the school and screwing the school out of government grants.

What the US needs is a TOTAL overhaul of the "Juvenile Justice System" (this is totally a different thing than the Criminal Justice System that we generally equate crimes with). It hasn't changed in decades. It was good for the 60s kids... But terribly inadequate for todays animals. It does NOT consider children that commit crimes to be criminals whatsoever.

U.S. Juvenile Justice is not a criminal system whatsoever, it's technically civil and somewhat rooted in old school common law from the last century. Prior to that, kids had no right whatsoever and were highly abused basically treated as animals/property. So, it was a marked improvement and it was changed mid century somewhat. But, totally fucked for today standards.

Getting kids bound over into the criminal justice system is rough. Kids are more advanced nowdays mentally and they need to lower certain ages and change the way it's all handled. A kid pretty much has to commit a serious capital crime (Murder, Rape, etc. maybe Aggravated robbery, agg/felonious assault) to have major issues that might getthem real time. Otherwise, they release them to the parents as much as possible, and the process is so fucked that cops really don't wanna deal with it.

But cops MUST deal with it everyday. It is the parent or the lack thereof that refuse to deal with it. I remember working doubles to find ANY relative to pick up a juvenile I arrested. Trying to find a place for them was fucking ridculous. I actually said this many times to the DH, and Juvenile facilities, shelters ect and I quote verbatim "WTF, am I supposed to take this little fucker home with me??" It usually took talking like THAT to get a place to accept them. Because they can't be held or house at the district with adults.

They couldn't make a complaint on me because they would be in more trouble if I documented that they refused housing for them. So I really cultivated a real I don't give a flying fuck attitude, demeanor, and lingo. Something I'm sure guys like Mark could get away with. Other cops actually had me make the phone calls for them. That is no joke. So, with that kind of encouragement I was obligated to do my best!! It became a game!! If it's bullshit..I always found an amusing way to handle it.

Here's the real kick in the ass. I've had a parent REFUSE to take their kid back on the phone. So I would convey the kid to that home and the parent would REFUSE to open the door. We weren't permitted to kick the fuggin' door down (even tho I tried) and demanded to take their fucking little piece of shit. So our road boss would show up, tell us to make a supplement report for Obstructing Official Buisness or some shit and take the little fuck back to the district. There was days, I'd come back to work the next day and we were still holding the bastid.

The courts, juvenile detention centers, liaisons, detectives and courts are consumed and NOBODY wants to deal with them. These kids KNOW that, which enables them to be the very dickheads they are.

I'm sure glad I retired before the invention of the camera phone.. For fucks sake, I was taught how to properly execute "The juvenile slap" on my first week on the job. It's a slight of hand technique that would make David Copperfield say.."How'd he do that??!!"..:ROTF:

Very few rapists are ever caught on their first sexual assault - in fact a rapist has committed various forms of sexual assault 7 or 8 times before they are every caught, and then it's still difficult to get a conviction.

Unfortunately, we live in a society where the punishments for rape are actually relatively minor. A guy in Illinois just go 4 years for raping a 16 year old in her sleep - one count criminal sexual assault (felony) and one count of sexual exploitation of a minor (a misdemeanor). Another got 180 days in prison and 24 months of probation for molesting a 5 year old.

Raping a rapist puts you on the same level as the original offender - not something I want to do. Castration often doesn't work because it's not a sexual thing - rape and sexual assault is about power and control - sex is a weapon. Objects are often used in the assault as much as a penis or body part. Psychotherapy also has not proved to be effective.

These people make a choice to rape and be violent. If they can't control themselves, these sexually violent people need to be kept away from the rest of society. Let them sit in solitary confinement somewhere for the rest of their days - no quick outs for them. Their victims live with the consequences for the rest of their days, so should the offender.

Personally, I couldn't wish rape on my worst enemy. I can however celebrate that he's sitting in an 8X8 cell all alone with no tv, no entertainment. And I can also say - having a family member seek revenge on the rapist can often backfire - it doesn't change what happened. And really, I know the last thing I really need around me is more violence. Everyone is different, but violence begets violence - the cycle needs to be broken if we ever expect anything to change.
