LOL I got a big chuckle when I clicked on the first youtube link and the clip started. The first few noises from Dave sounded like it was straight offa here:

However, that was some cool shit!!! They were a fucking MONSTER then weren't they? Man I'd love to go back to that time period and see them live.

I saw them on every tour up to '84. Once on the first Hagar tour, and never again-lol
the first 4 tours were their peak, Diver Down tour something was missing, maybe because I saw them while Eddie still had a cast on his wrist when he injured it. '84 was cool, but it just seemed like they dropped off a notch or two. Then the disaster hit and nothing was the same ever again.

            The mighty Van Halen!!!!!!!
I seen from VH2 tour all the way to 1984 and the first tour with Sammy.

I've seen Priest 4 times live (Unleashed in the East, British Steel, Screamin' For Vengeance, Turbo tours), I've seen Kiss once live (Dynasty tour),
I've seen Maiden (Piece Of Mind tour), I've seen Blue Oyster Cult once ( year/tour ?), and a handful of others... Foreigner 4 tour, Scorpions Blackout tour and etc...

Nobody commanded the stage like Roth and no band (considering the brief list above) ever came close to the high energy fun that the DLR Van Halen era produced. The DLR Van Halen era was what rocking roll was all about back then. Nobody did a live show like Van Halen, on their worst night as far as a live show is concerned Van Halen could mop the floor with any act/band of that day.

My favorite VH tours/shows were VH2 and Women and Children First.

There will never be another band in regards to a live show like the DLR Van Halen era again. That stuff only comes around once in a lifetime.

I'm still looking for a good boot a full show of the VH2 or Women and Children First tours.
Peace, Love and Happieness and all that stuff...

"Anyone who tries to fling crap my way better have a really good crap flinger."

I personally do not care how it was built as long as it is a good playing/sounding instrument.

I always considered "Eat 'em and smile" the album that should have been.

Not to say that the "Van Hagar" era didn't have good songs but "Eat 'em" had that shtick, that dangerous edge that made vintage Van Halen stuff so good.

I recently placed a thread called "I was driving with Van Halen's 'Light up the sky' on my radio." That's the kind of song that the "Van Hagar" line up could never pull off.
