  • Knob Design

I have an idea for a knob design, let me know if you've seen this anywhere. Radio knob shaped, think Gibson speed knob, and it would be annodized metal black, gold, or pewter/chrome, just plain with a small white knotch triangle on it indicating position. Do you think this would look cool or would it look bulky ? The functionality would be good as speed knobs are.

I glue all my knobs to stay at 11 out of 10, so I would rather have NO KNOBS....

uh, that WAS a joke ya know..glue the solidshaft pots so they would not turn. Would I?...NEVER!
( but I do have spare pots if I ever REALLY wanted to do that )

        NOT!!

and that Peavy is a shit guitar amp that I bought for 20 bucks, and it IS worth less than 20 bucks, but it has a line-out so for a time Joe V was using it, till I said no more micing, just DI out of his Digitech into the PA.

my guitars are always on 11 out of 10, and I let the effects/preamp/amp do it's thing, and really only use the volume knob. If the basses had no knobs and just a cut-off switch, I'd still be happy.

Right, my design would have less of a groove and low profile like these.

Huh. Cool. My favorite knobs are the ones found on early 80s BC Rich CS models or the ones on my Hamer Blitz.

ya all the damn righthanded freaks out there

I know they are there so they dont get in the way, however on my model 1's they actually make me more aware they are there and yes I do get stupid-crazy sometimes and I hit them cause the positioning of the knobs is different.

my saving grace on the model 1's is I don't use them

can't use that particular one on solid shaft pots, and the funny thing is that some of mine DO have solids, some do have split knurled pots...

but yes, those knobs look smaller. I think LeftyBob meant "low-height" knobs with the arrow/dot on them.

Bandsaw + drill = done and done. Cut regular knobs down to the right height, then drill them out to fit on solid shafts.

I think GuitarPartsDepot has low-profile dome knobs. Someone does, anyway. I seen 'em

More like this but annodized to match the heavy metal flava' !
Though I'd really like 'em a bit wider with more like an old stereo tuner knob ...
Maybe that's the answer old stereo parts
