I like Nickelback and to set the record straight... they have been making records with hit songs on them since 1996. Thats 13 years and they are still coming out with music that people want to buy and radio stations want to play.
I can think of a ton of 80's metal bands that were around for much less time than that.
A flash in the band soon to be forgotten band comes out with a few songs, a few albums and within 3 years they are gone.
Three Doors Down is doing the same thing. Hit after hit... year after year. Solid writing, solid production and a solid band foundation.

Nickelback is a kickass live band. I've seen them three times and each show was killer. Great sound, tight band...yeah, they suck. If that Chad guy would just wear more pentagrams and eyeliner...

There's an awesome record shop in Glasgow. It's a small shop, dark, slightly damp smelling with an old dog sitting on the counter and it's crammed full of records, singles on one side, EPs on the other. They also sell 8 track tapes!
Was in just the other day and got a picture vinyl of the Bring you Daughter to the Slaughter single with a cover of Communication Breakdown as the B side. Good times.

Hey, that's my local record shop! It's been open since the 60's. I'm pretty sure I'm the only person who goes there for the music.

That's what we had in the town I grew up in. The place was called LP Goodbuy and it was the first place that I ever sawa bong. They sold transfer t-shirts, records, pipes and were a Rainbow/ Ticketmaster outlet. They closed down because the local PTA banded together and preasured their landlord to raise their rent. The last time I bought anything there was tickets for Deep Purple's Perfect Strangers show.

Man, I fuckin hate Nickelback.. in fact.. when people ask why I don't like radio music, I mention them and how much everyone of their songs sound like every other one of their songs. It is really quite ridiculous.
