I've come to the conclusion that, for me at least, making the once a month trek to my local Guitar Center just is not worth the gas that I put in my Jeep. Not that the Jeep eats all that much gas, just that Guitar Center stores SUCK! I walked into my local GC today and walked out within 5 minutes of being there. I WAS going to buy some hangers and another stand, but that place just gets on my nerves.

This rant pertains only to the Brick and Mortar GC's. Online GC is still a cool place to shop for assorted needs. Hell I bought everything that I needed in under 5 minutes online. I think it would have probably taken me well over an hour to finally make a purchase at the B&M GC today.

For one thing, I could not find an associate to help me (nor any other possible patron). I'm sure they were there somewhere, just not out on the sales floor. Probably firing up a spliff out back . I looked at the accessories on dislplay....what a bunch of overpriced CRAP!

I will just use GC to test gear. I'll buy online from now on.
I live on the edge of danger facing life and death every single day.....then I leave her at home and go disarm bombs.

I only go to my local GC as an absolute last resort. I hate the store, the vibe, the noise.

You should see Waltons over on this side of the pond. You'd shoot yourself instantly. Not joking. I hate that place with a burning passion, seriously. The employees are even funnyer. One time I asked for a locking NUT for a Floyd Rose (emphasis on the NUT ). What I got where gold straploks. However, that's understandable, not everyone knows double locking tremolo parts, and I sure as hell wouldn't expect every part-time snotty nosed brat to know guitar, but when you have to lead the guy (another one) through the rack where the strings are, so he'd get the right ones, it gets pretty fucking annoying.

Though there's some places that had some actually decent stuff, with people who know something, but that's a rarity.
Its all fun and games till you get yogurt in your eye.; -AK47

Strings & picks, that is all I go in there for.
        Sad but true.

I sure enjoyed more going into MARS or the 'ol Thoroughbred Music. Oh well....

My son and I really enjoy our monthly trip to Guitar Center. I pretty much have carte balanche there and help myself rto anything in the store..and I'm always encouraged to play louder than I actually want to.

I had the pleasure to play some nice sounding amps , especially within the last year or so..VHT, JVM, JSX, Mesa..and now considering buying my son a Peavey 3120 halfstack. I've been kicking myself since I passed on that mint B-52 halfstack for $600.

I wished they had affordable amps/guitars that sounded/played like these when I was his age.

I can't complain really..the guys up there really treat me nice. Comprix is the manager and isn't a total tone/gear moron..so that certainly helps. He sold me 10 packs of Slinkys for 10 bucks a while back..I still have a couple packs.

The software in their computers is from when Abe Lincoln was in office. It takes 35 minutes to check anyone out of the place no matter what the purchase is. It's fukkin' painful there.

I always seem to find something good in the used section at GC. Everything from a TC Electronic M350 rack delay/reverb for the PA system to an Rhoads LTD and a CS Kelly have come home with me from there so I have no complaints except one exception. Was at a GC in Cleveland about a month ago and they had a $10 price tag on a used Furman power strip. They would not sell it claiming they need it for their stuff in the store. The computer showed they had several of these used units but they refused to sell any of them. I think I'm pretty much done with that store but the others seem fine.

I get a lot of biz from the local GC since they cant work on anything and I'm the closest repair shop to them. I know most of the guys there and they are pretty cool. Since GC got bought out the killer deals and discounts have disappeared for the most part. Rarely is anything good on the used stuff and if it is it's "hollywood" priced. The guys do what they can to help me out since i cut them slack on all their gear repairs.
I did get my DK2M from them. I send a lot of people their direction too to find stuff I dont carry or cant compete with.
