Sorry to hear about Gucci. I had to put our beloved dachshund down just over three years ago. I was a mess for the next week.

It can't help but tear you up inside; they are members of the family indeed.

That's a bummer man, I'm sorry to hear that.. Animal losses are quite emotional, they become such a big part of our lives and have such distinctive personalities, they truly are pals and family members.

Thanks again guys. I'm having a difficult time with all of this and reading this does help. It was really hard coming home from work yesterday, the first day where she wasn't there for me. She always greeted me and got all hyper & excited when I walked in the door. My wife couldn't even stay in the house yesterday by herself when the kids were at school. They also brought over her remains from the crematory. I never knew it would be this difficult to deal with but she was a family member anyway you think of it. Our other dog is hurting too...

I recently went through the loss of my nilly 13yo. It's fucking harsh as. She had a tumor near her urethra that grew unbelievably fast. She had trouble peeing and laying down. There wasn't a choice unfortunately, it was too hard on her and me. I miss her every day still, but it does get better eventually. Pain turns to fond memories

Sorry to hear that bibz, I was dreading having to do that with Gucci but figured I had a couple more years as she was fairly healthy but one moment she is all happy and playing, takes a nap and bam...she's gone. I sure do hope the pain goes away...I hate coming home form work, getting up in the morning, feeding my other dog and going to bed at night....it really does suck and I never knew losing a pet would be this difficult. When I think back over the last 10 years with her, they were the best years of my life.

That's a terrible experience to have to go through. Some pets are more human than a lot of humans and I have pets that I consider more valuable than anything (one of which is 17 and a half years old) so I know where you are coming from.

I can assure you that she knew that you were different from the former owner(s) and was thankful that you made her part of your family. It would have been dreadfully difficult to have to make the choice to 'put her down' later on and that she was at home and in the middle of a nap in the home where she was treated well is probably better than telling the vet "give her the needle". The one comforting thing is remembering how good you treated her and how you saved her from mistreatment.

In time comfort will find you.

Yeah...too bad the forum doesn't have a minimum IQ.

Shawn, The pain will fade with time. Get another dog when you're ready. That really helped up

I held Pico as the vet gave him the shot, and he went so fast and peacful..but I really broke down pretty bad. I waited a moment, kept my composure the best I could before return to the car where my wife and son were waiting for me.

He had a cancer tumor, and has surgery to remove it but it came back and withing 2 months he couldn't walk, eat, and begain to be pain..it was time.

Bella keeps us busy and happy now, but we'll always miss Pico. She's an Uber Chihuahua..I think she's part Pittbull..

Bill, we have another dog named Nubber (has a little nub for a tail) and he's helping out. I can tell he's bummed too and he can sense I'm bummed too. I'm sure we'll eventually get another dog. Gucci was my kinda dog and I used to tell everyone she liked me best because I saved her from the mean gay couple who had her first I loved that dog the minute I first met her.
