Spanish guitar music works VERY well, doesn't have to be Flamenco

        Aye, ok...hilarious....

        Skid Row's "I Remember You"
        "Patience" by GNR
        "Wond'ring Aloud" by Jethro Tull
"Romeo And Juliet" by Dire Straits
"Don't Fuck With Me" by Love/Hate
        "Rivendell" by Rush
"Two Steps Behind" by Def Leppard
"Desolate Ways" by Morbid Angel (really, not a Pull The Plug type joke, this is an awesome acoustic piece)

Anthrax do actually have a genuinely moving acoustic song as a bonus on Vol.8 after "Stealing From a Thief". It's an awesome song, think it's something to do with someone related to Frank Bello dying or something, it's called "Pieces".

I always liked the acoustic version of Warrant's I Saw Red.

Amanda - Boston, sappy and syrupy!
"We were sitting on the bus one day and there were 5 of us hanging out. There was only one beer left in the cooler and we actually all took a little cup and split it. It was a pathetic day in a rock and roll when five grown men have to be sitting there sharing a beer. "

                Justin Haywood - Forever Autumn
from Jeff Wayne's 1978 album "The War of the Worlds"

Needs slight adaptation to full acoustic, but could be done nicely.
                Definitely sappy

I have a crappy classical guitar (was a gift) that I play Romanza on... and actually used for a year of Classical guitar lessons.

So I am familiar with the general range of techniques used (at least at a rudimentary level)

Any pieces you would recommend? (the stuff I got from my former classical teacher all sound way too "academic")

That's a surprisingly nice piece from Anthrax.
