I've been thinking about buying strings in bulk the past few days and I was wondering if anyone else here buys them in bulk and if they know of any sites that have good deals..or if they just mob down to GC and buy them there. I'd like to do the same thing for picks, too, if it's possible.

Will they break easily?
How quickly do they begin to rust? I'm asking this, because over here, you simply won't believe how damp it is. Leave your new set of tools open, and in 2 days, they will all be covered in a nice, brown, flaky finish. Had that happen to me.Its all fun and games till you get yogurt in your eye.; -AK47

Thats a good price. That's about what I pay for builder packs. 100 sets of strings all in individual sleeves. 100 low E in one sleeve,100 A's in a sleeve..blah blah blah you get the point. I get Martin's and D'addario that way but there are a couple others available in builder packs as well. We make up sets as we go for sale in the shop and for shop use.
I've never had any problems with rust or string breakage.
My advice to Dred is don't leave your tool out in the damp.. dry it off and put it away..nothing worse than a rusty tool.
Since there are no "off brand" string makers like many other things the quality is pretty good on all of them. Even most of the overseas strings are usa components assembled in another country.Last edited by atdguitars; 06-02-2009, 07:55 AM.

I want to go back though. Sorry for the thread digression."I would have banned you for taking part in hijacking and derailing a thread when you could have started your own thread about your own topic." - Unknown

I ordered 4 sets from webstrings. Two were the right strings I wanted and two were the incorrect gauge. I wanted a pair of 0.013's and got 0.011's instead. The 11's were actually listed on the website as 'SOLD OUT'.
Sent a couple of emails to them. No response. Filed a dispute with paypal and escalated it to a claim after waiting for a week. No response and paypal closed the disput saying it does not protect against the "item not as described" and they protect only if the item was not received. What a bunch of morons! My first and last dealing with webstrings! Thought I'd put it out there if someone's trying to buy from these idiots.Sam
