I used to buy and sell movie props for a living (A meager one), then I moved into middle management at a tax office. I saw what was happening with the economy, so I jumped ship, and have been working as a butcher at a store my family owns.

The work is as dirty as it probably sounds, but the $$$ is pretty good, and it's a secure position. It also allows me the time to finish up with my college degree.

Just moved (3 months ago) to a new postion as a Health and Safety Advisor. I'm taking care of the touring shows where I work (Cirque Du Soleil).

Not the best pay out there but a not too bad company and I have the opportunity to travel once in a while.

          I'll bite.
          What I do right now?
          Industrial Safety Coordinator.
Just like it sounds, not a full blown CSP, but an hourly guy that does the day to day training, meetings, compliance stuff.

Lifelong machinist is my trade though.
Conventional, Tool and Die, and CNC.
You name it, I've probably run it or programmed or repaired/rebuilt it.

I work in a steel mill but am not married to the steel industry.

And I happen to like what my job is...whether it be safety or machining.
A lot to accomplish either way!

I work for the Federal Government disarming munitions and destroying the contents inside (usually with explosives). If you do a search on my "location" you will gain an understanding of what the contents of said munitions are. Technically I am not supposed to mention what it is. In many cases, these items are fully armed and ready to function as designed (blow up) if the wrong movement is forced upon them. It's a fun job .

I live on the edge of danger facing life and death every single day.....then I leave her at home and go disarm bombs.

IT - From installing switches, bridges, terminating wire, use fluke tester to locate, troubleshooting and resolve issues, setting up labs, repairing desktops and laptops in those professional lab environments, create images and etc.

Some days I'm overwhelmed and stressed with alot of work and can't see the light of day and then some days little piddly stuff. Either way, as much as I may and do complain its the best job I have to this day. If other opportunities don't present themselves, I think I'll stay for it least a couple more years. I like the work itself and some of the people are really genuine great people.

I have PC parts/hardware everywhere... in closets, chests, file cabinet drawers, large two door cabinets, in the garage. I'm a geek at heart but you wouldn't know it on the outside. I hide it well.

However, and to know me knows something like this isn't my usual self.
I'm the type that likes long term security, stability and opportunities and I don't deviate from that.

I'm actually considering "Luthier" Schooling. As crazy as that sounds and there's definitely no money in it to make a living at it. For me anyways its more of a personal quest/achievement. I dig that stuff. Its the one thing I always have wanted to do and most have been discouraging over the years.

I think I'm gonna do this I think I'm gonna run with it.

This site has been a large contributing factor.
This is a great place with great people with lots of wisdom and skill that have been instrumental.
Peace, Love and Happieness and all that stuff...

I personally do not care how it was built as long as it is a good playing/sounding instrument.

Hahaha! If you saw the things I see every day, you might consider becoming a vegetarian!

Funny thing, my wife is an embalmer/mortician... We joke that we both "process" meat for a living! Ok, not in good taste, but it keeps us both laughing!

Infrastructure Support Specialist at a large company(think blue) that has many large partners. My Coworkers and I maintain and monitor backups for all of the large partners and direct customers. I work 2nd shift Tuesday through Saturday and I like it.

For my main bread and butter, I've been installing and servicing office furniture cubicles for 20-years.

I also own my own company that does logo wear and ad specialties. Oddly enough it's called King V Promotions, LLC. I can put your logo on t-shirts, hats, ink pens, Frisbees, coolies, golf balls, coffee cups ect...

I am a material purchasing specialist and team lead for a large cordless phone, two way radio, marine radio, and scanner manufacturer. I make sure that we have stock of product and parts for direct consumer sales. When I am not doing forecasting and purchasing I am also a team lead for the tech support department. I got two job titles for the pay of one. Isn’t downsizing awesome?
