fuck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pettitte was perfect through 2 outs in the 7th and Jerry Hairston boots a ground ball.
God Damnit!!!!!!!!!! then of course the next batter, Nick Markakis, is down 0-2 in the count and then singles to left to break up the no hitter.
5-0 Yanks, bottom 8, Cano with his 56th multi hit game of the season, 2nd only to Ichiro, has his 38th and 39th doubles of the season. Not helping the situation since 1965!

Pettite looks so strong this August, compared to last year. VERY encouraging for the Yankees heading into the last month/playoffs.
I'm surprised that they didn't grab anyone yesterday. Would've loved to have Garland, but you know Arizona was probably asking for Hughes from the Yanks, and s*** from the Dodgers who got him. Dodgers making a strong push (or grabbing a life preserver) by getting Garland and Thome.
I'm curious to see how Contreras pitches in Coors.

here's my take after the deal deadline and the rosters go to 40 now-
American League-
1-Yankees playing well, but I hope they do not have to slug their way through the playoffs, that won't get it done. The 5th starter spot doesn't matter come playoff time anyway so they're gonna go with what they have now. looking forward to watching A-Jax the next yankee outfielder get some time now. Anything can happen, injuries, slumps, etc. so Yanks are tough if AJ, CC and Andy show up in October, if not, could be another early exit.
2-Red Sox- Big series with the Rays starting tonight. This will either be the beginning or the end for the Rays. Come playoff time, with Beckett and Lester in a short 3 of 5 series, they can easily go get to the ALCS, they are a fearless team and playing well too.
3-Angels-Their lineup is doing it more than their pitching which is the opposite of how they usually play. Best lineup in baseball, they will be tough.
Texas can't lose to the jays at home 18-10 at this time of the year, but they're not done yet, I just don't see them staying in it.
4-Twiinkies are playing well enough to take that division.
Mauer-MVP so far with Jeter, Tex, Morneau right behind him.....
5-Tigers-Verlander lost a tough one, that division is now a 2 team race.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
National League-
Phillies, Cards in, and the two favorites.
How about those Atlanta Braves?????? Cubs running out of time. Marlins in an important series with the braves, braves took game one yesterday.
National League West, once a landslide, is now the best situation to follow in baseball.
The more games you win in April and may, the less you have to win in September. Not helping the situation since 1965!

Tigers will hang on and win the AL central (fingers crossed). They are good at home and have 18 of there last games at la cribo.
Texas won't catch LA, only hope for them is to catch Boston in the wild card. That is gong to be a tough 3 way fight for the wild card between Boston, Texas and Tampa bay...some heads to head series...shawnlutz.com

Giambi got a standing O last night. Good to see that for him.
Man, Burnett has not won in a month and looked HORRIBLE last night. Hopefully he'll find his groove. Yanks need him for the playoffs. Yanks now lead the Angels by 5.5 games for home-field advantage in the AL.
