          Hey Tommy...
What are your thoughts about da sawx getting Halladay? Or will your Yanks steal him away in the 11th hour like they did with Teixeira
They are offering Bucholz and 2 other minor leaguers (sp?) Money is not an issue for the sawx, even if they say it is. I say bollocks, Sawx have almost as much income as the Yanks do.

If we WERE to get him, you have Beckett, Halladay and Lester...Pretty scary i think...

PS...glad you are doing awesome! As a former addict, i know what you are going through and i salute you bro...

I don't think the Yankees are going to swoop in and get Halladay. As a Yanks fan I would love it, but I don't think Cashman is willing to give up Hughes or Joba. Ricciardi is asking for both. Too rich of a price. I would give up Joba, and 3 great prospects for Halladay, but Cashman has made it pretty clear that he'd rather just pay money for a top guy then money + prospects. I could see the Yankees being involved for Cliff Lee or Washburn though.

If the Red Sox get Halladay....man, I don't know how that would make me feel. RS still have a lot of problems this year with injuries, hitting, etc. but I think psychologically it would be a big deal. Yankees have to start showing they can beat the Red Sox next week.

Oh, and I'm a big Oakland fan after last night!

              superfly!!! finally, you're in here.
the yankees are looking at halladay because the Sox are looking at halladay and vice versa. You've got the Phillies still in the mix as well as the Angels and the Dodgers.
Toronto has flat out said the the Yankees or Red Sox will have to give 30% more than any other team since they are in the same division as the Jays.
The Jays offer to the Yankees was halladay for Joba, Hughes, and two of their best minor league prospects Montero and Jackson, which is an ass raping. There's also talk of the Yankees getting Halladay and also having to pick up vernon Wells and his 20 mill. a year contract as well for the next 4 years which is kinda out of the question too.
JK- Yankees already turned cleveland down for Cliff Lee last week. But you're on the money with the acquisition of Washburn. This is probably the most likely to happen as it will cost much less in money and prospects than the Halladay sweepstakes.
The Yankees sandbagged the Sox with both Arod and Teixeira, anything is possible, but i have this weird feeling that Halladay is not going to move anywhere, that's my darkhorse pick.

Both the sox and the Yankees are one starter away from a dominant rotation, and one injury away from a rotation crisis at the same time. I'm on the edge of my seat
              right now.

can you imagine how tough the yanks would have been if wang was himself this year? if only, if only, he's out for the rest of the season now with surgery coming up.

                superfly bri,
The Sox are a cash cow, but not like the Yankees are.
the Sox can afford to shell out the money but always seem to balk a little at the end.
Don't forget that Fenway holds a lot less people than Yankee stadium, it does make a difference in the numbers at the end. plus the Yankees did over a billion dollars in revenue off their T.V. station alone last year on the YES channel. it's getting so sick my head is spinning.

I agree about Halladay not going anywhere, Tommy. But now I just read the Post that the Yankees are all in on Halladay...lol. And with Wang done I can see them wanting to move quick on something. I love trade deadline, and hate it all at the same time...lol

they're all in, but only in a defensive mode due to the sox offering in i think.
i have this feeling halladay is gonna end up on the jays in the end.
Washburn in pinstripes after Friday is the safest bet, but the cool part is anything can go down. it's sweepstakes time!!!-lol

Interesting stat that I just read....CC is 0-4 against Red Sox, Rays, and Angels. He's also lost to the Phillies. 8 of his 10 wins are against sub-500 teams. Not really ace material so far.

I think the reason he did so well last summer with the Brew crew is due to him changing leagues. NL batters hadn't seen him yet, it makes for an advantage.
If the guy would lose like 25 lbs. he could be even more effective if you ask me.
in his defense, he did throw a great game against the sox in to the 8th but clueless joe girardi left him in too long and the game slipped away.

I agree on the weight thing, and as a fan I have no qualms with him being a Game 1 starter in the playoffs. Joe G. is always worried about that bullpen. We go from Torre who throws arms out, to Joe G. who thinks they're all porcelain dolls.

Girardi over micro manages don't ya think?
If the yankees are weak, they are weakest in the corners on their outfield defense.
Damon is frightening out there, and anything can happen with Swisher in right, an easy drop or a great catch. Hinske's glove is good but he's no bolt of lightning out there, he has no wheels.
Melky is the best defensive outfielder on the team and has the best arm. With Gardner on the DL, don't be surprised if the yankees add an outfielder by friday as well.

I can still throw a ball as well as Damon-lol

lol @ Damon....yeah, he's pretty brutal. I would love to see Jackson called up to help in the outfield.

if he doesn't go in a deal for halladay, we'll see Austin Jackson when they expand the roster to 40 at the end of the season. Montero is simply amazing for a 19 year old.
