  • Interesting read if you have a few minutes.

Batters are striking out at unprecedented rates, yet nobody minds as long as hits also keep coming.

    • Interesting read for sure. Obviously a lot of big boppers on the list who swing for the fences. Mike Scmidt was kind of surprising.

      • Wade Boggs was great at not striking out, or popping up.

Rockies are ready to make a move for first, Dodgers-Giants this weekend.
Giants last chance to get back in this thing.
Not helping the situation since 1965!

          • Congratulations Jeter. Kinda bummed to see Gehrigs record broken but happy for Jeter who imho is one of the BEST players I've seen play the game...

              • Yanks and Cards both tanked a bit this weekend.
Mondo makeup game with the Angels tonight.

Jeter stat-He has 12 seasons with 100 or more runs scored. Gehrig leads the team with 13. If he can do it again next year he'll be tied with him for the lead in that category.

                • I gotta tell you all, I'm not liking the Yankees chances at this point in time.
What has happened to the starting pitching? You have sabbathia, and Pettite right now. AJ is baffling the hell out of me, and the joba situation is not good at best.
Their lineup is maybe the best in baseball, maybe, but we all know great pitching normally beats great hitting. If they had Wang in full bloom like he was for 2 straight years before last year, I wouldn't be as concerned. AJ has to got to straighten himself out, or they will have to slug their way through the playoffs, and the smart money is against that.

                  • they are on auto-pilot Tommy. Long season, big lead in the division, down to the last few weeks of the season and just waiting for post season play

Gotta have the horses if you want to go far into the playoffs.

I feel the same way, Tommy. AJ worries me a ton...he has not snapped out of this funk that's he's been in going on 2 months. Right now, he's the 3rd starter in the ALDS, and that scares me because it could be a swing game.

Joba had a nice game tonight, and Hughes came on and did a nice job getting that double-play ball after getting himself in a jam earlier. Tonight was the kind of game they would lose the last couple of years. I love what Aceves has been doing in long relief. Magic number is 10 I think?

                          • Tiger magic number is 14. They need to get it going, not playing very good ball the last several games.
