Their last 2 cds kind of sucked... well... ya they did, but most of everything before was great. Both Morningrise and Orchid are IMO masterpieces.

I haven't liked anything much since Deliverance, that's their best album for me. I do like their older stuff a lot too, but nothing trumps Deliverance.

Their fans are mostly stupid fanboy bastards, but I do think Opeth is a band everyone grows out of pretty quick. Love them intensely when you discover them, then grow quite bored after 6 months or so.
The Opeth forums kinda back that up too, with hardly anyone from years ago still posting on there now, and if they do, they admit they don't really care so much for the band any more.

I thought the last 2 cds were superb. Different to their earlier albums but still very good. I've been a fan for years and continue to be a fan. I listen to the new stuff as much as the old. Guess I wouldn't fit in over at the Opeth forums

In my own case it's a guitar named "Misty"


The Misty (named after the Pokémon character) was my very first built where I did everything, routing the neck, doing the frets, everything. It also was a guitar from my own original design, I wanted a Firebird/Jazzmaster/Gibson RD hybrid and in that aspect it came out really good. I also really loved the way it felt and played, it has large scoops on both the front and back of the basswood body and the body also because of being made from basswood also was light as a feather and I nailed replicating the feel of the neck of my old strat

But I quickly found out that the Misty's sound wasn't at all what I expected it to be. I have since had this experience with several other guitars with basswood bodies. I don't like the sound I get with them. In the case of the Misty I tried everything: Dimarzio pickups, Duncan Pickups, EMG pickups, I never get it to sound right.

And there are two reasons why I cannot sell the Misty.

1. it's my first all self made guitar.
2. Nobody wants to buy a self made guitar no matter how good it is, everybody goes for the brands and the looks of more familiar models. This guitar in particular is too personal to me that nobody else would want it.
