    paypal/ebay rant

    I sold an item on Ebay. I had a picture of the item along with the part #. a guy wins it. I send it out. He gets it.leaves me good feedback. then emails me and said that there is a part missing. I said what part? He said this other part that comes with it if I was to buy it new. (its an add on,not needed for the original item to function properly.) I said the auction was for the item in the description and in the picture and that i gave the part # for. He said he wanted a full refund. I said no. He filed a complaint with Paypal stating the item was misrepresented. WTF? Picture of the item, Part #? Good feedback.Whats to misrepresent. They decided in his favor so I have to give a full refund ($28) and I'm out the money I spent for shipping and auction fees. the kicker is I was going to throw this thing in the garbage but I figured I could make an extra $20 or so. I should have just tossed it.

    Wait till he sells something cheap, buy it or get someone you know to do it, leave bad feedback.

    And, you know his address...sign him up for a record club (do they still do them?!) LOL.
    Or send him a curse.

      Wow, I'm really surprised that Ebay sided with him. It makes me afraid of what will happen with the guitar I just sold on there.

            Every topic I've read about Ebay. Ebay is always siding with the impulsive moron that doesn't research what he's buying.

                I thought about doing that because when i denied a refund i had a feeling he was going to dispute it. they have that covered though .Paypal makes you link a credit card to your account as a backup 'funding source' .They put a freeze on the amount in my account within hours and i got a email saying if the money was not available in my paypal account the would charge my card.

                I stated to Paypal that that can be purchased seperatley and i never advertised that as included. Also if there is any doubt the bidder should ask before bidding. FuckinB.S.

                    No. My choice was to work it out with the buyer which I knew was a no go,offer him a partial refund. or let Paypal decide and abide by their decision.If it was more money i may have offered a partial refund, i thought I had a solid case with him leaving positive feedback and all and for 28 bux I figured screw it i'd roll the dice and let them decide.

                      I have to assume it was actually Paypal and not ebay. If you were not on the phone with Paypal, then you probably will almost always lose. They will typicly side with whatever they think will give them the least trouble. You can file an appeal and actually get someone on the phone and explain to them exactly what is up. Have them look at the pictures and description and then send them copie of the emails sent to you.

                        But then, you could have done a chargeback by reporting it as an unauthorized charge to your credit card company. Then, they would also eat a 25 dollar chargeback fee on top.

                          It is so biased for the buyer. He has NINE days to ship it back to me. That is get off his ass and put it in the mail and provide a tracking number.Of course he will send it the cheapest way so it could be 14 days or so before i get it back.
