My problems with the list:
1. NO RANDY RHOADS! Thus, the entire list is reduced to zero credibility.
2. Time Odyssey was a better Vinnie Moore album than Mind's Eye.
3. As Jacksons Shred said, Surfing isn't a shred album.
4. No Chris Impelliterri?Member - National Sarcasm Society

2. I need to get that album, I've heard about it but I only have Mind's Eye.
3. Chris has some cool tracks, but it's like 1 or 2 per album.
Shawn Lane fucking rapes and I'm so happy he's on this list. I'm very surprised Guthrie Govan's Erotic Cakes isn't on the list though.Originally posted by horns666The only thing I choke during sex is, my chicken..especially when I wanna glaze my wife's buns.

eh, these kinds of top # lists are always
I agree with some of them, seems like the writer was trying to mix it up a bit throwing in different styles.
All ripping guys ect but for me feels like calling some of these "shred" cheapns em for some reason anymore.
my list would go something like this as the kinda timeline that were the innovators and the guys who took it another level.
personally i hated racerx and paul gilbert back in the day - they sucked.
but i'll include them as they were a part of it at the time and really upped the anty in the rock realm, and kinda ruined it the same - after this we then had to bear the shame of vinnie vincent invasion.
Casino < Al, the one true first master of the art of shred, period.
the list cannot even be started without Al.
Rising Force - wtf can anyone say, magical forces aligned!
Edge of Insanity - macalpine - incredibly different sounding
Minds Eye - moore please
Time Odyssey - magnificent love this disk an all time favorite
Racer X - sucks really fast
Maximum Security - amazing and thick, love the mood of it
Perpetual Burn - the one that all others are judged
Dragons Kiss - better than perpetual burn...?
Mind over Matter - george bellas - a bit of all above mixed into one.
of course tons should be included -
but sticking to ten, and the ones who mattered the most that's what i got.
The original three guys i would have to say of the genre are Yngwie, Moore, and Macalpine - everyone else kinda rode their coat tails.

paul gilbert didn't suck nor his buddy, but racer x did - i have a few shows from back then on vhs and it's cool to watch them show off, but the rest is shit.
and paul gilbert was the original copycat - he's the first guy i said damn, he just ripped off so and so when i first heard him - i bought that first album as soon as it came out, i lived in LA it was a big buzz around, but i was to young to go to shows. I just got boots from older guys.
everybody pretty much thought racerx sucked around LA the main thing was watching paul and bruce show off, that bruce boulliet or whatever i kinda though was even better than paul, they do a guitar duel and that dude was smoking fast.

Bruce has some killer fucking chops, Paul has picking on him but if you listen to the Racer X live albums, Bruce really works Paul on the duals.
PG has definitely gotten better over the years with his witting and versatility, kind of odd for the 80's players..
I'll contribute to this more tomorrow.Originally posted by horns666The only thing I choke during sex is, my chicken..especially when I wanna glaze my wife's buns.

What's the problem?! Tull are, and always will be better than Metallica. Martin Barre's "Minstrel In The Gallery" intro is as metal as it gets!

Hold on a cotton-pickin' second!
Are you suggesting that Angus isn't a guitar hero?
I think you could be in a minority here....

i think the list is pretty god considering the time period they compiled it from...most of those are from the original 80's shredders. it could have been worse, like dragonforce could have been at the top!!!GEAR:
some guitars...WITH STRINGS!!!! most of them have those sticks like on guitar hero....AWESOME!!!!
some amps...they have some glowing bottle like things in them...i think my amps do that modelling thing....COOL, huh?!?!?!
and finally....
i have those little plastic "chips" used to hit the strings...WHOA!!!!

SWTA definitely was shred, but it was so groundbreaking that it was a lot of other things at the same time. Satch rules!_________________________________________________
