Never had any propaganda thrown my way -
I could look @ it as too much of a good thing can burn out your happy parts, save it for the weekend or days off, occasional after work.

It ain't the weed that is causing the problem, in general. I was married to a full blown pothead. She was mean, nasty, and ignorant when she was off the weed for more than half a day. She had other, more serious issues that were the root of the problem. Weed chilled those issues down to a much duller roar. I tolerated the constant weed smoking because I couldn't keep 55 gallon barrels of Bitch Spray on-hand. Plus, I certainly was not above partaking either. Plus I couldn't stand myself if it meant being a blatant hypocryte.
I too, can be a lot like Ralphie from A Christmas Story. I am pretty laid back most times. But I am your worst fuggin nightmare when I lose it. Can't remember a damn thing except just before I lost it. I have learned over the years to vent in stages so I don't do the whole volcano thing. I speak my mind, probably too often, to the point where my honesty is mistaken for arrogance or just being plain mean and heartless. I'd rather people see and think that than to see me eventually blow a gasket. I'm tall and quite thin. I'm often a target. But it is as mentioned before in another post - Size don't mean shit to me. I've FUBAR'ed guys outweighing me by more than a 100 pounds. I've also been beaten like a drum by a guy who's top of his head only reached my chest.
Smoke a bowl if it helps. Drink a couple beers. Remove yourself from the negative stimulus. Take deep breaths. Beating off works too! It's hard to stay pissed after a bowl, a few beers, some deep breathing in a quiet place and after launching a pud rocket onto the ceiling. In an insane world, only the sane seem crazy.

I on rare occasion get "rage"-like episodes. I feel like I'm not in control and usually don't think rationally. I can sense when I'm getting one so I do the thing that always alleviate them; I play Street Fighter 2 (one of three or four versions I have) and listen to Emperor. It's worked for me for more than half a year now so I always do it.
The one time I couldn't stop one was at school after I had been sick for a day (As well as the Friday and weekend prior but I still went to school those days). I don;t want to come off as a whiner but here's how the story went. Nothing was working in my favour going back, I had missed a video in my one class that there was a quiz on (That I still passed somehow?), I missed instruction on a new unit in math and my throat was still in a ton of pain. I go to band to play and noticed someone was playing my rather expensive saxophone. I don't mind if people do if they ask but due to past experiences I get incredibly mad if people do not. The thing that drove me nuts is that the teacher allowed a student who forgot their own instrument to use mine and then not even clean it or anything. I asked her why she didn't ask me and she said she assumed I would be fine with it. I said that was completely out of the question and to always asked. She then got defensive and this is when I snapped. I spent a good 10 minutes telling her how wrong it is to use stuff without asking and I went into examples. Let's just say she knows not to lend my stuff out anymore. Oh, and she was yelling at me because I was apparently negative to which my friend replied "Yep, he's an electron". This was all in one day. She never mentioned it again."Dear Dr. Bill,
I work with a woman who is about 5 feet tall and weighs close to 450 pounds and has more facial hair than ZZ Top." - Jack The Riffer
"OK, we can both have Ben..joint custody. I'll have him on the weekends. We could go out in my Cobra and give people the finger..weather permitting of course.." -Bill Z. Bub

And yeah, I've also been around pot heads when they haven't had their "fix". Rage is not uncommon.
That said, it doesn't seem like it has anything to do with your issue, but it might not hurt to give it a rest for a month or so and see if the rage issues subside....Last edited by Bert; 07-22-2009, 10:45 PM.

Not to derail but I was "blessed" with indigenous panic attacks. It is hereditary. It is not caused by any phobia or conditioned response from unpleasant experiences. In short, it is a chemical imbalance. Only way I can describe it is like someone slipped you all 4 hits of a 4 way window pane, minus any pleasure you might have.
Pot had absolutely nothing to do with curing, calming or on-setting my panic attacks. I have smoked in the past when I was already having one. Most times it made it worse, but not always. Which makes perfect sense as the body is already being overwhelmed with a plethora of out of control electrical impulses.
From someone with a LOT of experience with both pot and panic attacks, I would not go so far as to say there is anything absolute to prove pot causes it. I have spoken with no doctor that knew enough about indigenous panic attacks alone, much less to definitively say what exactly causes them. What I am saying is, it is probably a stretch, at best, to imply pot does cause or can cause panic attacks. Google doesn't necessarily cut it. I have lived it - had full blown attacks long before I ever touched weed. Smoked a boatload of the shit and it didn't seem to help or hurt the situation unless I was already having an attack.
The only thing the medical world can offer as explanation for these types of panic attacks is theory as to what triggers them. It seems, based upon their research, that it is one's inability to tolerate their own lactic acid that is the probable cause. Your muscles produce it - more when you are working out, etc. If your body can't dissipate it quick enough, boom, indigenous panic attack. Still, they can not prove it.
All that said, I do agree with Bert and Butrus on giving it a rest. Moderation is a very good thing. Too much of anything is not good and will probably have some ill effects sooner or later.
Years ago when I overindulged in the weed, it made me lazy, stole a lot of my normally high motivation. But I was often more creative. What a fuggin canundrum! All that creativity ready flowing but not enough motivation to do shit with it except veg and ponder. Oh well. At least it made me stop and think about what to do with the bodies instead of a raging fit with the hacksaw and Glad bags. Also made me forgetful. BTW, where did I put those bodies? In an insane world, only the sane seem crazy.

I agree that pot does not "cause" panic disorder, it is mostly a hereditary condition. I haven't heard the lactic acid theory -- and honestly that sounds like BS to me... where did you hear that? There are excellent medical treatments for panic disorder BTW. Usually it's treated with an SSRI, and it's very effective if you stick with it.
But back to the issue at hand, panic attack (not panic disorder) while under the influence is a well documented side effect of pot for a small fraction of those who use it.Last edited by Bert; 07-23-2009, 11:39 AM.
