I will try not to drag this out. Saturday my band played a private party. After the gig a loaded my gear and took off. (something I have never done before) 2 of the band members received a tip from the guy hosting the party of $200 each. The bass player was told to wait and he would get his. He had to work in the morning but waited around till 1:30am and finally decided to go. The only reason I found out about the tip was because the bass player told something was up.
How do you guys think the tip situation should have been handled?
Should they be considered personal tips or tips that should have divided evenly between the band members.
I guess the part that bothers me the most is these guys are my best friends for over 20yrs. All of us are in our 40s. The fact that they tried to hide this from me makes me not want to trust them any more. So it is not about the money as much as it is about the trust.
