Today - trying to overcome the recent 'problems' with the kelly models, I tried using an sg.

An sg tuned to dropped A, and it felt good in an obscene manner ~ this may be my new thing, I am worried about the bass swallowing it up(in a live type matter tho).

Anyone else going this route? Frequency problems? anything else?

Tony Iommi didn't have any trouble detuning an SG...

Actually, I have my SG tuned down to Slipknot levels. Its a little iffy on the tuning stability, honestly. I'm thinking about locking Grovers. But I barely play that one anyway, so why bother.

My cheapo JS30 Kelly is tuned to Drop B flat.

The kellys themselves are fine, just uncomfortable now.

I was playing the SG this morning and dropped to C, felt good - Dropped to B (somewhat slack strings) -- then dropped to A (really slack with tuning stability loss(this will prolly go away with some heavier string gauges))).

I use Ernie Ball "Not Even Slinky" package (12-56) for my Drop B tuning.

It's a bit slack but I kinda dig the feel. Tuning stanility is good with my Planet Waves tuners.
