I figured I may as well expose myself for some ridicule here. I recently got pro-tools installed on my windows 7 partition and decided to try to record myself. I was farting around with downloading presets for my 11 rack and came across an "Andy Timmons" style patch and got inspired while i was playing some simple chords and came up with a little melody to play over it. 10 minutes later I had this 2 minute long spaghetti western-ish ballad style instrumental.
Keep in mind I am no shredder or even very talented at rhythm playing and both the chords and melody recordings are first takes. I also didn't come up with an elegant ending and fuck up both parts little harmonics but I'm not a pro-tools artist yet so it remains clammed. Be gentle, even if it sucks it's only 2 minutes of your life I stole!
Also, it's in wma format because I haven't been able to figure out how to buy the MP3 plug in yet.
The patch is basically a JCM-800 at the edge of breakup strongly compressed, with some tape echo and a medium plate reverb. For mixdown the rhythm track was panned a little right and the lead was a little left, and I threw a touch of pro-tools reverb on top of it. Guitar was my RR1t with duncan custom and jazz. Rhythm was middle position volume rolled back a hair and lead was bridge up all the way.
