• Someone remember this one? (brutal death metal!)

Well, sometime last year I posted a rehearsal room demo of the song "Grinder Execution" by my brutal death metal band "Devastator"...

Last Sunday we went into a studio to record this song professionally... mainly to see how well we work in a studio situation, and of course to get a nice sounding demo song.

You can get it here: Devastator homepage
(just klick the link on the left)

And yes, you can definitely hear the double bass this time...

Pretty dam cool ...In moderation I like some Death metal ,couldnt listen to a lot of it in one hit ,but I did enjoy hearing this ...plently of aggresion and a nice tight sound .. not 100% on the vocals either I prefer slightly more normal singing

Sounds pretty good to my ears. What amplification are you guys using for guitars? Sounds a little thin to my ears.

In the studio we used a Marshall DSL 100 for both guitars, with not all that much gain... and no effect units at all.
However we doubletracked each guitar.

We didn't bring our own amps since we didn't really want to experiment in the short time (and neither of us owns an all-tube amp, so we thought it would give best results to use the one in the studio).

Any advice on how to get a fatter sound (without getting too muddy) would be much appreciated.

I wouldn't say the guitars sound thin. IMHO they aren't loud enough.

Def. some brutal and catchy riffs.
Check my Jackson themed Myspace page, hear some good metal, and check out a little shred fest by me.

Yeah, they could definitely be louder... most people who heard the song think this way.

See what happens when only vocalist and bassist are present during the mixing process... (we others didn't have time that monday...)
