  • Some metal song clips

Hey hope You enjoy these. I recorded them last week on my Roland VS-880. The tone comes from a Johnson J-Station. Dunno if anyone remembers, but I posted a death metal song clip on here a while back. I'm really going for more of a traditional metal sound nowadays. Also, these songs were meant to have vocals sung over them, and we're still looking for a singer.

    Ancient Evil

Damn, that's some good stuff. Nice guitar tone--I never managed to get anything quite like that out of my J-Station. Once you guys find a vocalist, I'd say you're definitely in business.

Very fuckin cool! This is some of the best stuff I've heard in a while, no joke. I love the delay that you have set up too (right around 0:52), some may say it's a little too long but I think it works great. I'm trying to teach my rhythm guitar player some lead lines so that we can do some harmonizing parts like what was in your recording. The song has great potential. Work on that bass drum a bit, IMHO. Everything else sounds great.

I'm just wanting to go in a different direction now I guess. She was better at the whole death metal thing.

Thank You. I agree that You can barely hear the bass drum. Listen to the other song sample and it is much clearer. Also, I like the delay on there You mentioned also. Actually I didn't realize it was there until I mixed it onto my computer, but it ended up working pretty well.

                I might also add...

I checked out Ancient Evil as well.

The bass guitar needs a lot of work, you might try cutting some of the lows. It may just be my stereo, but it seems as though the bass guitar level is too high. On the higher notes of the bass, it comes through very clear and sounds great, but on the lower tones it sounds muddy.

As for a traditional metal sound, congrats. Many overlook how the drums are tuned, and recorded. Sounds great. You might try playing around with some more snare drum options too; it sounds good, but it could be improved.

Also, right around 1:30, did that riff happen to be inspired by a Cradle of Filth tune? It reminds me of Born in a Burial Gown. Just my opinion.
