Re: comments please...

hey all, thanks for the comments... I'm surprised people actualy know the band here. Paul, thenks for the comments on the new album, the next one is already in the works - hopefully we won't have any distractions this time arround.
The all the guitars except for one dive in one solo were done on my SL2H-MAH - very good instrument. I need a another one

Man, you guys just amaze me more and more with every release. This one seems to be the most technical and experimental one that you've pulled off yet yet you guys maintain the aggressiveness throughout the tracks. I will definitely need to pick it up.

Contrary to what others have said I think the vocals are really good and perfectly suit the music, aggressive but easy to comprehend. Most death metal bands where the vocalist just goes "RAH RAAH RAH WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH" and doesn't try to pronounce anything.

The recording sounds very balanced, but at some parts the rhythm guitars aren't as clear / audible as I would want them to be. Every instrument on this recording is very impressive. The clean passages are excellent and I really dig the solo section in "Silence Calls The Storm" towards the end

Two questions...
Did Steve play any role in the writing process or did he stick with his basslines?
Also, what was the lineup for the recording?

Yeah, we put a lot of emphasis on the clarity of promounciation. We spent a good few weeks working with the new vocalist on that actually. We made him mp3s and he basically learned how to pronounce the words clearly and placement etc... It came out pretty well but I think there is still room for improvement.

Thanks again... sometimes where there were many layered textures we needed to prioritze instruments in the mix... But this is the first record we did where we actually hear everything that was recorded. Hopefully next one will be even clearer. We will probably take a different route for tracking next time - more in the vein of our approach to the mix.

Steve did a great job learning the record in four days he stayed at my palce and practiced the hell out of it. I've only seen musicians work this hard one other time since. The songs were written already when he was approached to do the bass - one of his reasons for playing the record [at least that's what he told us] was because of the material and the fact that we wanted him to be himself not try to keep him in the pocket like Iced earth or thers in the past. So yeah he stuck with the bass but what mamazing bass lines! He managed to add a completely new dimentin to the band that wasn't there before.
As for recording lineup it's simnple:
Yanic Bercier: drums
Bart Frydrychowicz (myself) all rhythm and leads.
Guest solos (6 out of 14 or so leads on the album) were done by a guitarist from Belgium who was invited to play on the record. Things really hit off after the record that he plays with us live now as well.
Steve: bass.

keyboards/cello/choirs session musicians/local scene people etc.
Thanks again for the comments!

And great to have you on the forum! I remember hearing a song with you several years ago, "On the Shores Of Ithaca" I think it was called...? I don't remember exactly how it was now, but I remember I liked it!

Hey Anders, On The Shores Of Ithaka is hands down one of my favorite songs that Quo Vadis has done! Starts off heavy, jumps right into some speeding riffing, gets even more aggressive, sustains the energy for a bit and then has a complex middle / end section that sort of brings closure to the song. My old band was in the process of learning that song for fun, but the drummer couldn't keep up with Yanic's feet!

Never heard of Loudblast but I'll definitely check them out... See you're from France - release date for France should be March 7th. We're trying to put something together for Paris before that date but nothing confirmed yet.

Hohoho!!! That sounds pretty cool!
Yep, Loudblast is a french band that is rather famous... errr, though very underground, France is by no means an interesting country for music, unless you like french Britney Spears ersatz ...

Errr, tell you what, if you need infos on organizing a gig in France, maybe you should contact these guys, http://www.scarve.net, they are mates, and have toured a lot here (including a festival with... errrr... Slipknot and stuff). Lol I forgot, they have all trained At the MAI, Nancy, and Dirk, the drummer, teaches there (and he toured with Soilworks).

small world! Will, our Belgian guitarist studied at the MAI and they even offered us to do master classes when we're there... So he knows Dirk I think he actualy tried out for Misanthrope. Do you also know Gael from Lyzanxia? Anyway, MAI lists Quo Vadis now in their publications as a band including former students. You can hear a couple of his solos on the mp3's we posted.

Hey, small world indeed!!! i think Ill go back to Nancy and meet them again and eventually your band when you show up! And I've only met the guys from Lyzanxia once, when they toured with Scarve! The music was good, but it wasn't my bag (too close to Megadeth in my opinion, and i can't blaze Mustaine and his voice, and his ESPs

And yep, both mp3 are just awesome, again!
Holy shaite, very small world!!!
