That part at 3:30 would sound better if it moved around, but since I can't really do too much of that shred stuff I just thought it'd be fun to see if I could do that one pattern at the same speed through the whole thing [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]
The part at 2:30 is actually a part of something else I've been working on, so don't be surprised if it shows up again someday [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

I did intend to do a video, especially since it was Big Red, but one thing led to another....

As for my recording process, I run my guitar rig into an Akai DPS12, then that into my PC soundcard (SB Live 5.1). Then I set my Recording option in the computer's Audio Control Panel thingy to "What U Hear", open CoolEdit 2000, start recording in that and play the backing track in Winamp, then play along with it. CoolEdit records both at the same time (hence the "What U hear" setting - whatever is coming out of the speakers is what's being recorded internally).

For videos, I have to do it in a more convoluted manner:
It took me about 2 hours or more to figure it out, but what I do first is set the camera up and run it into a Canopus ADVC-55 video capture box via the S-Video input, then I run half of my DPS-12's signal to my soundcard's Line In and the other half to one side of the Canopus' Audio Input. Next I run my soundcard's secondary speaker output (the SB Live 5.1 has 2 speaker outs for Surround Sound) to the other Audio In of the Canopus box (this took a while to figure out how to do because the 4-speaker option had been previously turned off in the Control Panel, since I don't run 2 sets of speakers anymore, and I forgot about that - I thought it was still turned on and that the jack was messed up). That's why you may notice the audio split in the video, where I'm totally on one side and the backing track is totally on the other [img]/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]
While it did take considerable time to figure out, now that I know how to run my wires to do videos it's easy to set up, and it beats having to crank everything to the max to get good sound levels on tape - I can do videos in the middle of the night and not disturb anyone [img]/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]

you use an Akai dps12-there cool machines in fact i gave my one to my daughter so she can start recording ideas.ect

the audio convertors on it are starting to date slightly-i noticed it when recording a few guitar tracks-sounded slightly squeezed compared to my Digi hardware-but for the price they rock!

Those guitar wars guys must take it all pretty seriously, if they all make the trip to a city for a head cuttin' contest. As for playing over this piece for fun, holy shit it's long. I'd use up all my licks before it was half over [img]/images/graemlins/tongue.gif[/img].

Help!!Is there a media player that will play these clips? I am on windows 95,using AOL.The aol media player will not play but the first 20 seconds and then cuts out.
