Yup the SLO setting! Can't be beat! My Pod XT doesn't even sound close to that good...

        Re: Some Decrepit Birth covers...

iirc SLO was the best hi gain simulation in v-amp 2 - some of the others ( especially mesa rectoverb iirc ) we're extremely muddy , scooped ( plus rather unpleasant highs ) and overly heavy in the bass department.

so you say that for hi-gains you use v-amp instead of pod xt ? i heard a couple songs recorded with XT ( but not death metal ) that have sounded fine. How would you compare those two units ?

i think now i'm sold on the v-amp after hearing the clips You and Mike Gilbert from Severed Savior recorded back in the days

ps. there's something about all those slo simulations - my buddy recorded some clips through the XT with the slo sim on and it also sounded the best compared to the other song he did on the mesa sim.

What do you guys mean by the SLO sim, i have a boss gt-6 and would like to recreate the sound dumpywumpy used on this track.

I can't get my Pod XT Live to sound good direct at all, I have the metal model pack and everything and I've tweaked it for hours. There's at least one thing wrong with every single model that makes it unusable without SERIOUS external EQing...I have yet to hear ANYONE post a Pod XT clip with a tone that would work for death metal. They are all either too open and huge sounding to accomodate the alternate picking 8th note riffs or they sound fizzy and tinny.

As for the V-Amp, there's really no other useable high gain sounds on it, but the SLO setting just kills with a little bit of tweaking.

The SLO sim is the Soldano SLO amp model, I don't know if the Boss units are actually designed as modellers so you might not find it and even if you do it'll sound totally different because it's a totally different product.

Sounds excellent to me. Decrepit Birth rules. Great work.

Gotta ask, what'd you do the drums in and where'd you get the samples?

                        Re: Some Decrepit Birth covers...

I used Fruityloops Studio to program the drums using these Manytone wav samples from sharewaremusicmachine.com

The key to getting them to sound good in Fruityloops is using the velocity graph editor and pitch shift controls on the samples, otherwise the fills and stuff sound lame and the snares are pitched too low!

                        Thanks for the compliments guys!
