• short major/mixo lesson

Got my trusty old strat out today(tuned down a semi so i can wail along with YJM..lol)and thought i would do a small vid showing a few ways to visualize and play major and mixolydian lines.
Of course the 2 chords i am showing are Major7th and Dom7th shapes.so you have to alter the scales to either of them when playing over them

but if there triads with no 7ths you can mix these up(with lydian)for extra colour rather than stay in one mode

i have just shown the 1st and 5th degrees(ionian and mixolydian)for time issues-but you can easily visualize lydian with its raised 4th

Yeah, sure...no sweat I can easily visualize the lydian with its raised 4th!

That was some great playing, and you make it look effortless.

I can play the pentatonic minor scale. Never really progressed past that, and still haven't mastered it completely.

I did enjoy that very much though.

Sleep. The sound doesn't collapse to riffs of early eyes either.

Mike-knowing the pentatonics is great!you can add in the other scale notes to fill the spaces easily when you put your mind to it.glad you enjoyed it
Kmanick-cheers mate,if i was over there you would get bored jamming with me..lol..and end up kicking me out the house

thanks guys

just did this next short vid for a friend but thought some here could get a kick out of learning this style of arp playing. On my Reflections tune on the mp3 page i play some major 7ths and minor 7ths plus a diminished shape using just the top two stings. This is typical gary moore/nuno arp blazing that sounds very in your face with the alternate picking rather than the normal 3 string triad shape sweeps

webcams are not the best for tone so check out the tune to hear it as it should sound

Awesome vids Justin But on the first one, you can't really hear what you are saying! It might be helpful if you speak English

I don't log in for a few days and look what I miss! Dang!

I always dig your vids/lessons, JJW. Very useful, tasty, non-standard stuff! Smooth playing as usual. Can't wait to hear some new tunes.

I had trouble hearing some of the things you were saying, too. I don't want to miss anything! Is there a way you can improve the vocal quality in the vids?

.j.
